Verizon is a huge provider. When they give up CDMA it's likely they'll target the same areas for service. The phone I bought before was GSM and couldn't get enough signal to work at the house. The phone is LTE capable but doesn't get a good enough signal to provide that level at the house, but at least I can make and receive calls.

Over Christmas...... everybody in our house began to notice that we ..... suddenly had good phone reception...

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Nah.  I think the terrestrials did it.

I can even reliably 'hot spot' from my phone when the satellite bandwith is all used up.  As is currently the case.

Of course we have unlimited data via cable so...

Most of them were for places with a large population but no infrastructure to speak of, like China and India. Easier than wiring up the country.
