It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

If your engine catches on fire at 3,500 AGL, all you need is a notification so you can bend over and kiss your ass good bye. :-*

Isn't that plenty of altitude for a parachute to open?

Well I figured that having a fire bottle or two to expend might buy a little time. You wouldnt want to have a fire handle of course and just shut off everything though.

Speeddog

Yeah, those damn giant attached food processor blades are a problem.

Yea, about like that.

Conversely on the old C130's, when doing a battery APU start, there was fire protection, but not fire detection. Not sure about the new J models.

The twin engined MD 902 has
Engine/main rotor transmission fire detection/suppression system

We had very small amounts of water falling from the sky today.

Basically not much different from recent years.
