That would be a correct assessment, however it is't Mogadishu, and it could pick itself back up.
I have seen some improvement since I've been here.

The place has struggled in some sectors. The health care and dental sectors are pretty strong here. We have a good hospital next to the college with all of the associated Dr's offices and radiology centers and so forth. Down at the Airport there is a ANG & NG facility that employs quite a few. Jeld Wen is headquartered here (They make windows & doors, I forget how many they employ) and there is the government sector police, courts, public works ect. So the place treads water.

An Exodus from California continues continues to flow into Oregon. Some of them come here, bringing with them strange ideas and expectations. People like Joy and I, that take a rundown shitty property and make it nice again. After a while some of the neighbors start doing the same thing. There's some give and take. Safeway closes down, but Starbucks is building another location.
