The 4+ turned out to be closer to 5 3/4.

I'm tired

That should hold you over while you prepare the snack to hold you over until dinner.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Miles or Hours?
Miles...

1600 feet elevation gain.

Under 5 hours.

I am going to try to get away for 7 miles tomorrow.  About the same gain.

Today was the farthest we've gone.

I'll post a couple of pics later. The trails are rocky and steep in some sections. Hard to make good time even going down...

for us at least.

I try to keep my expectations low, as it really helps the satisfaction/disappointment ratio.

Got a fairly neglected ST4s in for a valve service.
Popped it open, did some inspection, great, only one rocker arm shagged.
Started checking clearances, ahhhhhh..... first four closers are north of 0.020".
Pulled a couple shims, and the half rings are shagged.
Completely.

I don't happen to have 16 new half rings in stock, hell, that'd normally last me about a year.
And not even 16 decent used ones, as the standard demise for them is being broken by the DS1000 motors.
In the interest of being able to offer an expedited completion to my customer, I call the nearest dealer.
I've got a special order part that is waiting there, and I figured I'd have the option of killing two birds with one stone.
Called to confirm price and availability.

They have none.
Called the next closest dealer, they have 9.
I started in with a couple questions....
What do your service techs use?
You know that those fit 98% of all the 4-valve bikes Ducati has *ever* made, and 99% of *every* bike Ducati has made in the last 9 years?

Then I realized the futility of continuing any further down that road.

I've sent my expectation amp back to the shop, I'm going to have them modified so that they go down to -3.

Went to a Duc dealer once for timing belts.  They had one.  What do you do with one belt?
