Not sure.... but I think it maybe it downloads the map of your intended route prior to commencement of the trip....  but calculates your 'real time' progress from the actual reported position of your GPS.... and then makes point-to-point assumptions based on the only actual data received.
Coz the Japanese are famous for coffee  [thumbsup]

This app requires that you download topo maps, from a variety of sources, and then overlays your route on the map. It doesn't seem to actually follow the trail if your reported position is different. Some of these routes were mapped years ago and the trail might have been moved, due to a washout, or other problems like blow downs.

I'm not sure how, or if, it really works. ;D

The mapping software that I use with my Garmin fitted to the DR.... uses (I forget which) topo maps.  It's great for route planning.  Works pretty well.  Plan your route, upload it to the GPS  [thumbsup]

But on my return - having (more or less) successfully followed said route.... when I upload the actual journey as observed from the eyes in the upper skies, its similarity is often no more than vaguely reflective  :-\

Consequently, when I've been out on a random ride with the GPS "recording" where I went.... if I save that route as a "map"..... in order to repeat the fun later on...... When you try to follow where the GPS thinks you went.....  there often are no roads or tracks  :-\  Even though you were previously there.  Apparently.

I blame Dave.

He'll deny it, coz they erase the memory.

But once they knew he was about to reveal the Truth.  They.... abducted him.

No weekend hiking then?
I don't think so.

We're planning on walking around Storyland tomorrow for a few hours. Do some rides. We all had a blast the last time we went.

Our hikes will need to be shorter now that Zeke is out of school for a couple of weeks until summer session, and then he only goes until noon.

It's getting kind of warm anyway. Yesterday was 80 of ours and in the open areas the heat was brutal. Not too bad under the canopy, but still hot.
