hello . ..  got home a while ago from my bike ride . .. today the knee said, enuff . . so, that was it for the day . . .12kms but, lots of breeze head on half the way . ..

How about an ECU out of an old HP and an AMD chip?

As fate would have it...

after spending half the day at Eric's repairing a failed water pump shaft seal we finally got back to diagnosing the original problem. The bike was running extremely lean and we couldn't figure out why. We tried a different ecu's. We tried clones of my Ferraci chip in all combinations of ecu's. We even put an FIM chip in it. That's when the FIM software showed that when Eric started adding fuel, the ecu took it right back out.

Long story short...when the air pressure sensor tells the ecu the bike is 19000', as opposed to 600' above sea level, it will continue to take out fuel.

I hope it's fixed.

Hmm, that would be epically lean, roughly half of the fuel if it was linear down to that pressure.

0.04 CO at idle to about 4K. A/F ratios in that rpm range of 16:1 +...imagine what was happening at speed with air being forced down the intake tubes.

Made it tough to ride.

The Ferraci chip is still kind of lean at idle to 3K even with good sensor readings, but that shouldn't affect riding on the track.

I'll eventually spring for an FIM chip and hope Eric's ancient laptop, with the FIM software, keeps running, or help him find a geek that can make him a windows install disc from the files and registry entries, so he can continue to work with them.

Still 85 here in Seattle. Hot day today and again tomorrow. Teaching a class on Saturday. Hope it cools off by then.

Almost all packed. Being less than a mile from the office will be nice.
