Hello ....

Nice  group ride today  . . .  as DP says, you can't fix stupid and was offered to become Group C monitor on Saturday rides . . . Will get $20.00 for swearing and cursing and shouting at people . . .  Feels like office work . . . Not because of my speed but my "riding ethic and behaviour"
So...

the 20 bucks ain't worth it? [evil]

I'm confused, are they paying him $20 for swearing at people, or fining him $20?

I thought you didn't like office work. ???

To me...to make something I'm doing for fun...a job...

it would take more than $20.

Good luck with it.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

If I stood outside the door and shouted at passers by, things like "Hey you! You're present!" Or "The King of England is dead!"  Do you think someone would give me $20 to shut up, or do you think the cops would just come and make me stop?

Truck is in the shop which is closed until Monday so, nope.

I'll have it towed here tomorrow and then I can start on it.

Are you going to change the whole thing, or just the carrier assy?

The whole thing.

The old carrier sounds like it's fine. but the axle and the internals on one side got chewed up.

So, new brake plates, bearings and swap over whatever else looks good.

Axle bearings...right?

Don't mess with the carrier bearings if you can help it.

Popeye the Sailor

Just the axle bearings-one is chewed up from what I'm told, might as well do both.

I'm in no real rush other than doing it before it gets much colder. I don't need it for a bit.

I've considered putting a plow on it, but that'll kill it pretty quick, I imagine.

ducpainter

Yup...axle bearings and seals. [thumbsup]

Plowing won't help it. My neighbor plows in the winter, and gets a new truck every couple of years.

Granted, the limited use yours would see wouldn't kill it that quick, but given it's age, it will accelerate its' demise.

Popeye the Sailor

I suspect the rust might kill it in the same time as plowing. The drivetrain should be good for another couple hundred k. It might see a couple thousand miles a year-I only use it when I need to haul something.
