Woke up this morning, went in the mech room to get something, and noticed an error code on the panel. Looked up the code and it said a shorted sensor for the heat coil. I cleared the code and the DHW started immediately, even though no water was running. The boiler proceeded to overheat and shutdown, displaying the same code.

I ohmed out the sensor that was supposed to be bad and an identical sensor that was supposed to be good. They had the same resistance with no short to ground. Thought about it for a while and decided that the error code had nothing to do with the actual problem.

Since the DHW side was calling for hot water I figured the flow switch stuck. Checked resistance and sure enough it had zero. Took it out, wiped it off, and put it back in.

All good.

Makes perfect sense.

I figured it was either an electrical or a mechanical problem.  ;D
