Morning.   [coffee]

Office day.  Sort of.  Off-site board meeting.  I prefer working from home or on the road much more.

Later.

Edit:  Found a package of 12 y/o Macallan Highland Scotch Whisky on my desk.  I guess coming into the office isn't always painful.     [thumbsup]

OH HAI GAIS!!!

I almost forgot I even had an account here. But here I am...sitting in my mushroom growing cave and preparing to unpack my nerd memorabilia!

Gonna be a more frequent lurker...still got the Multi and the Husky but otherwise, wife, working, home ownership and 10 (yes...f*cking 10) cats take up whatever little free time I seem to have.

Howdy!

Ever have a memory of a place you've been, but can't seem to relocate it when you want to go back.  10 years ago before/after the first DIMBY, B and I went to visit a friend in Augusta, ME.  It was a wet and miserable day and we were hungry.  I swear we had just crossed the NH/ME border when we came into a small village.  I spotted a small diner off the right side of the road, next door was a jewelry shop who's parking lot we parked in.  Anyway, that diner had the best seafood chowder either of us had ever eaten.  The other food was good, but we both still reminisce about the chowder.  I wish I could find that place.  I have looked at almost every road crossing the border on google maps and have yet to find it.  Maybe the memory is better than the real thing.

Took 10 cats to drag you in here?!!!  Welcome back! [beer]

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I saw him IRL a few weeks ago in Texas.

He definitely has the old cat lady persona down to a T!

All this cat talk has me remembering the DIMBY when cats were falling out of cabinets.

In continuance of our bear topic....

Backstory, much of East Ventura burned to the ground, mostly uninhabited areas.
So, no big surprise to me that a bear wandered into an area that had food.
Props to the F&W for a catch and release!  [thumbsup]

Crazy cat *people*...Robin is just as much of a pushover for furry feet as I am.

Funny story about the last one...she had been a stray in our neighborhood since shortly after we moved in. Wife-unit kept trying to coax her into the house but never had any luck. Fast forward to this past winter during one of the really cold snaps, the kids from 2 houses down came a-knocking upon out door late one evening. I opened the door and they said they had found a cat curled up in a ball on their front porch and asked if one of ours was missing. I immediately recognized the tiny little Floof and said she wasn't ours but we would take her in and take her to the vet to check for a chip.
The following day, we took her to our vet, no chip but she had been fixed and was in very good health otherwise.
We had her chipped, had her vaccinations done (better safe than sorry) and brought her home. We kept her quarantined in the guest room and put out flyers around our area with "found" cat for the next 2 months. Nobody ever came forward and she has since adopted me as her primary food slave and giant bald cat-minion.
