Ha I gots backup.

Hey Nekkid,

I took a tour of the Midway today. man those effers are huge.

kinda funny when we got below decks and saw where the Marines guarded the nukes and had orders "shoot to kill" if unauthorized personnel attempted to access, that was my brother in laws job for 10 years.

Hahaha, funny thing is, the Midway is small! Too bad you don't know anyone on a Nimitz Class carrier. The Nimitz and the Regan are homeported in S.D.

Imagine, flight deck is over 1000ft long, 256ft wide. Weighs 92000 tons with no aircraft or weapons...

Funny how much diesel that thing burns per mile.

The new one they are building across the bay is MUCH larger.

Really a good time, but ran out of time. They are allowing us to go again tomorrow (for free) to finish. [thumbsup]

They don't build them there. They build them in Newport News, VA. If they look like they are under construction, it's likely they are going through a minor rehab following a deployment. The new carriers are not diesel powered, they're nukes. They have diesel generators, but they are for ememrgency use only...

It was absolutely pouring. The rain wasn't the worst I've seen but the big problem is that Charlotte is still flooded from the remnants of Fay. We've had evacuations of several areas and our storm drains are full. The interstates were just saturated with water and I know at one point on a surface road the water was prolly 2-3 inches.

Thought we were all done with that. Guess not.  [laugh]
