i'm afraid not

we were on our way to join friends for dinner,
the check engine light comes on and it has a loss of power.

we're thinking throttle body or worst case, the catalytic converter 

so we drive back home and take mike's work truck because he's in the process
of putting the plow mount on the tundra.

btw... the tundra fits in the garage with 6 inches to spare...

You have a difficult decision to make.

I know you wanted to ride things out in the Audi...

but IMO the money drain has started with that car.

Get out of it...they're giving cars away right now.

I don't know what are typical weak points on the 1.8. We have the 2.0T in the GTI and have gone through a couple of coil packs, cheap, easy and common with same same symptoms. We also had a failure with the little motor that varies the length of the intake tract which acted similar as well. I didn't even know the engine had something that fancy.

That's the way it always goes though. Crossing my fingers for it just being a coil pack.

But since they tell us that overall warming means that we need to cut back on emmisions, I propose to blow up the sun so that we can pollute all we want. That'll fix that.
