A good friend of mine was a huge caffeine junky, but now he can only have 1 diet coke a day due to his enlarged prostate.

This guy would throw down an entire pot of coffee before 830a every morning. He still does it, just uses decaf now.

Is the caffeine the factor?

I see no point to decaf, I'd rather drink some juice or even water first. I only drink coffee for the caffeine.

Now I'm trying to cut it out just based on the thought that it's only a quick and not lasting energy hit.

It is believed by most of the medical community that if you have an enlarged prostate (which is quite common for men >50) that caffeine can irritate it for a number of reasons.

You live long enough....you'll get prostate cancer. Most common form of cancer, but also has the highest treatment rate at >90%
