I'm no doctor but he might want to try warm compresses and eyelid scrubs.

Technically, you are a doctor.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

No, but he has blepharitis.

Gotcha.  Blepharitis is common in people with rosacea which is why I asked.

It has different forms but that is one sign of it.  Tends to be most on the cheeks, nose, and forehead.  A mild form would result in someone looking like they are blushing a lot. :-[  A more extreme form ends up looking like WC Fields or Bill Clinton.

There are many common triggers that exacerbate it, including hot weather, cold weather, wind, spicy foods, tomato-based foods, beer, wine, exercise, many skin care products, etc.  Pretty much everything really. :P

The eye symptoms (ocular rosacea) aren't always there but they are pretty annoying.  The same triggers that make the face worse also make the eyes worse.

Ignore her. She's not really a doctor.

A common myth.

http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=8565

QuoteThe American entertainer of vaudeville and the movies, W.C. Fields (1880-1946), had rosacea with rhinophyma (ryno-fee-ma).

If it is not effectively treated, rosacea can cause rhinophyma (literally, growth of the nose). With rhinophyma, the nose is bulbous, enlarged and red and there may also be thick bumps on the lower half of the nose and nearby on the cheeks. Rhinophyma occurs mainly in men.

W.C. Fields' lifestyle -- he had a well-earned reputation for imbibing -- did not cause his rosacea but it probably didn't help much. Avoiding food and drink (such as alcoholic beverages) that cause flushing of the face is recommended in rosacea to help minimize the enlargement of blood vessels in the skin that is part of the condition.

http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/25/natural-remedies-for-rosacea/?em

QuoteThe condition traditionally carried something of a social stigma, in that rosacea is commonly (but incorrectly) thought to be caused by alcohol abuse, a myth compounded by the actor W.C. Fields, who had rosacea and often played the part of a heavy drinker. Excessive alcohol intake worsens rosacea, but it does not cause the condition.

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.
