just got word from my accountant

holy hell, we are getting a huge refund.

I knew a piece of it would be large because of the windows...........but didn't know about this education credit Tiff is getting.

Just means you were giving the gov't an interst free loan from your paycheck. 

Your accountant shoud be able to advise you on how to lower your withholdings.  Put the difference btwn old and new withholdings in an intrest earning account and then your $$ will actually be working for YOU not the gov't.

The remainder of the money was from home interest and the school loans.

Everything else was lean. I earned quite a bit of money in the market last year, so I guess everything offset itself.

My exemptions are spot on to maximize the refund, but with investment accounts, it changes the equation a little bit.
