anywayz... i haven't been sick all year, and now i'll have to be sick 5 times in 8 weeks

i've only called out sick once in 10 months, and i get 5 sick days
i found out yesterday, we can't call these personal days and schedule them off

so i have to lie and say i'm sick to take them

I know my boss has something more like 400.
It's be much easier if there were more people that some work could be reliably handed to.
At least it carries over year to year, hence the large numbers.

When I worked for others I used to call in well.

"You've heard of people calling in sick. You may have called in sick a few times yourself. But have you ever thought about calling in well?

It'd go like this: You'd get the boss on the line and say, "Listen, I've been sick ever since I started working here, but today I'm well and I won't be in anymore." Call in well."
