I feel a strong case of Ducati-itis these days.

The bike is in a million pieces, a bunch of which are going to powdercoat tomorrow.

I scored a PC2 off eBay for half of a new PC3.

It looks like I have a line on shifter parts for the cost of shipping :D

I still need to figure out what to do for tires.

I have some power races that have plenty of tread but they're a few years old by now.  Not sure if I'm that brave.

I only managed about 3 sessions on Monday.

It's probably a good thing I didn't ride Tuesday. The tire i was planning two days on was pretty bald by the end of Monday.

Crashing is how we remember we're just regular riders that like to ride on the track. You don't want to think you're better than you are.

I will say I think you got more spooked after doing a few sessions than you were at the start of the day.

I really needed to get back on the bike right after I went down.  The bike had other plans.  That would have helped me forget it quickly.

The other thing I was (mentally) having a problem with was how easy those tires let you tip the bike in.  The old tires were square-ish, tipping the bike required a lot of effort.

ML, good luck, it'll come together.

Gotta run, have a good one.

Going back to the stock shifter or did you find pieces?

The Architect had some replacement parts made for reasonable money.

Tires are the one thing I don't play with any more.

When I had the SS if the thing held air I'd run it.

The 996 is not very forgiving with tires...it eats them...and prefers fresh ones. ;)

Stock.

Easier to get parts and I'm not a huge fan of gp shift.

It'll probably end up on the ground again someday anyway [laugh]

I like gp shift. I run it on both bikes.

Depends on what a 'few' actually is. Don't forget when I had the SS it was a raging ball of 60hp fury. The 75ish you'll be getting is a 25% bump.

If you ran them initially and they were working when they came off I guess I'd try them. It would suck to pay for a track day and get there and find you can't get your tires to work. Sportbike trackgear has some specials on tires right now.

I just changed the tires on the SS.  They were just coming up to three years old, had maybe 12-15 days on them.  Tread depth was maybe half of the new ones and they seemed to stick fine last week.  I'm thinking I could have got at least another couple of days out of them.

Edit

You might as well get used to the GP shift, you're gonna want it.  I also switched both bikes, as I get easily confused   ;D
2000 Monster 900Sie, a few changes
1992 900 SS, currently a pile of parts.  Now running
flogged successfully  NHMS  12 customized.  Twice.   T3 too.   Now retired.

I thought about it, but that just seems foolish.  I also thought about keeping them for the Monster but I just put Road2's on it last season so by the time that need tires these'll be 4 years old...

Why will I want gp shift?
Much easier upshifting in left handers.  Keeps you from stubbing your toes on the curb   ;D

Not using gp shift is not what's holding me back on the track.

Or at least my track.

Besides, I just can't seem to get into it.

I might have a chance if I could run gp on the street but with the design of the 950smr it's not possible.
