They, King County Metro, had an osha inspection and got dinged on chemical safety in 4 different areas of code.  Hence the position.  Federal, state and county inspections are not fined. They do however have to fix the issues.  Bad for them, and good for me!


I was talking about the individual employees.

Once a program is in effect it becomes the employees responsibility to abide by it.

If an employee breaks a safety rule and an inspector writes it up...

fine him...fine him/her 3 times.

He/she is no longer an employee.

Here in the US only the company gets cited and fined. In Canada, the worker, the supervisor, and the company all get cited and fined.  They have incentive to work safe cause it hits the wallet.

It appears Canada has a more effective system.

I know construction supervisors that implement a backdoor fine system.

If you get caught breaking the rules you get sent home for a few days or a week because there's no work.

It's extremely effective.
