Ok, if I had to choose a state in the US to go an relocate:
1. It needs to have mountains
2. It needs to be 'open minded'
3. Has to have lots of Ducati friends around ...
Love the FL/CA weather, but one is too flat and the other too expensive !!!

Just saying ... I know that NH has some mountains and I know, at least online a good painter, so ...

I would chose VT, NH, NC, or WV.

All depends on how close your wife needs to be to certain amenities.

NC has the mildess weather.

VT and NH have weather that might not be acceptable for Central American natives.

Cali has waaaaaay too many people.

NC is as in the middle of nowhere as here, but it is warmer.

It's just a matter of how cold....

does -20C for weeks sound appealing??

Then VT or NH would work.

Temps in NC winters hover more around 0 C.

I like cold ...

In Germany while doing my apprentiship, I never used the heating .. OK, when I had the neumonia and the nurse had it on ...

As long as I can do my job and have a place to BBQ and a yard for the dogs ... I'm happy !!!
