just got the official text msg... no work again
and yes, the company is losing a lot of money

the messed up part of this, i could be working from home but i can't for 2 reasons:

1. i can't get in the building to pick up the laptop and external drive because my security code won't open the electronic door locks

2. the boss won't allow us to work from home when it's convenient for us, so my thought is f him

Today the lumber for the first floor walls and the floor system (manufactured lumber) for the second floor will arrive.

Yesterday I put together the final plumbing/heating package which will be delivered Saturday.

I also contracted for the septic. That will start next week as will the framing.

I guess it's too late to fill it back in. [laugh]

[laugh] it's WaY too late for that, plus if you fill it in, your wife might put you in it first  ;)

i was just thinking about how cool it is to build your own house... at least you know it's being done right.  [thumbsup]

Well...

I'm doing things a bit differently...shocking I know. ;)

We'll use 2x4 kd spf for the wall studs and larger sizes for the window/door headers.

The floor joists and the support beams will be manufactured glue lams or lvl's with native hemlock for posts.

Most people use 2x6 for walls due to insulation requirements...I'm using 'outsulation'.

2x6  :o  wow thats huge...

this place is built using (more or less given the metric conversion) 2x4 hardwood studs..  but these days most houses seem to use plantation pine for framing.

so this um... kd spf....  did it grow on trees ever?

Builders went to 2x6 to get R-20 insulation in the walls

kd=kiln dried  spf=spruce/pine/fir

so yeah...it was part of a tree. ;D
