If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

still not done painting  :-\
that's why i'm up earlier than normal  ;D

the old frame is really rotted, this needed to happen. but taking this house apart a little at a time has us wondering what the hell else is wrong... the door frame had no flashing, and the tyvek is wrong... i won't get technical because i couldn't really translate mike's mumbling under his breath

the new door is beautiful though, i'll post before and after pics when it's in (whenever that is)

dropped 2 trees yesterday too... nice adrenaline rush that is  ;D

It really is amazing all the things that can get 'forgotten' or just omitted when building something.

It's usually about the money.

Many many people think I'm nuts building the house the way I'm doing it. They're all saying it's 'too tight...houses need to breathe'.

Right is only a concept, and building science, yes there is one, is as controversial as any other topic.

The hard thing is you don't know if you are right or wrong until years down the road when it fails.

Simple stuff like flashing is a no brainer though, and the builder of your house simply cut corners.

that's the boat I get myself in sometimes here. I get to realize that the way I did something wasn't a good idea within just a few years  [laugh]
