Well, here currently, it would cost me less than $75 to fill it and the tank would last me over 450 miles...

Sweet truck dude.  I have an 04 FX4, same color.  Just cracked 75,000 miles and only had 1 minor problem with a window regulator.  It's a great truck.  I'm hoping they come out with a small diesel soon, then it will be upgrade time.

Enjoy the new whip!

Hypothetically, if I were the owner of a truck like this and were to drive it to work, it would cost me approx. $166.00 in fuel every week. That's only if it was driven to & from work.

It's a Ford...

trust me...it will stay together.

Seriously.
My brother and I just blew up my dad's old Ford work van. It had all original parts. Literally nothing was every changed on it aside from brakes and tires... It had close to 400,000 miles on it. It drove like shit, but it still drove. Until the thermostat (also original) failed with a huge load of fire wood going up hill. That was all she wrote.
We just gave it to the tow truck guys for free.
When all the land lays in ruin... And burnination has forsaken the countryside... Only one guy will remain... My money's on...

when diesel hit the high point, it was costing me easily 160.00 a week in fuel

exactly

My boss has a Ridgeline; I know a lot here won't call that a "truck" because it doesn't have a "v8" but none the less, is a truck.

He drives all highway, about 38 miles round trip per day.

That has got to add up..........

That kinda sucks...

I can't even find the plugs. ;D

Real trucks don't have spark plugs.   [cheeky]

So?  Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought a full-size truck.  No, I don't get 30-mpg.  Yes, I can haul a couch, futon, and various other household items all at one time (for which many of my friends are appreciative).  I get a kick out of people (usually Greenie wackjobs) who make a big deal about how much MY fuel bill is.  It's my money, and I budget for it.

It beats driving a Honda Civic...especially with two 70#+ dogs, a baby, and my wife.

I think he was alluding to those who have these big ass truck's and do nothing but commute in them.

But you are right, it is your own money and can be spent however you see fit, but then again, you actually use your truck daily for hauling, worksites, etc.

I haul two overly-spoiled hunting dogs, most days.  Little bastards have it so good, they don't even know it.

It is just kind of self made self supported cycle - we consume more gas, so gas is cheaper, so we consume more (per person on a global basis).  We can argue that we are bigger, that our country is bigger, our roads are worse, etc, but in reality, it is our culture that we use more than others.   I think the fact that we use more and pay less doesn't sit well with our global relatives.  Kind of like we pay less for a Monster in the states than someone living in Bologna.  I'm not complaining, just trying to explain the rational to people that don't understand why an average guy would drive a 14mpg vehicle.  My SUV gets ~17, so I am guilty too, but I only drive about 20 miles a day, less than 10k per year.
