ZLTFUL: I used to work IT and man do I feel for you.  The nature of your job is that you work all day helping people with their (often self-inflicted) computer issues, then work all night/weekend doing system upgrades or whatever else is going on.  It's a thankless job unless you make your own fun.  [evil]  Hang in there.

Capt. Steubing, thanks for the post and the perspective check.  That's pretty darn cool!
Inara: (pissed) "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?"

Mal: "That it was manly and impulsive?"

Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."

ZLTFUL, I must say you did right. I never put up with shit once it got ridiculous. If something was total bs I said what I thought of it and believe me in a Sales driven business there was a lot of bs.

Some of the stuff was in a gray area and I would go along with it because you have to pick your battles.

The President of the Division I was in charge of decided that we were going to sponsor a Golf Tournament to support HIS pet charity. Since I was known to be a rabid Golfer , the President put me in charge of the Committee to organize this Tournament / Outing.

This Tournament /Outing involved 14 of our Divisions and the President , although he said he played Golf, was terrible as far as his knowledge and ability to play the game.

He wanted these Committee meetings to be held 2 hours before our usual working day normally began.

After one meeting it was obvious to me that he didn't want my input , he just wanted me and the rest of the Committee members there to listen to him tell us how to motivate our people to get there clients to donate items or money for skill prizes and Tournament winner prizes.

The President wanted to make us the glue that would hold this Tournament together and make it work so that he would look like the hero when he presented his pet Charity with a nice check.

This had nothing to do with our business so I told his Administrative  Assistant that I would no longer be attending the Committee meetings .  Of course I was cautioned what my action might result in for me and I said it was bs and it would be fine without my participation.

No repercustions came of it and as a result the President didn't ask me to be a part of any extracurricular activities which was fine by me.

Do your job as best you can , but don't put up with bs.  Don't let a Company use you like a Welcome Mat !   Dolph

I'll stick to Scotch and good Ports. But the concept remains the same. I did kill what was left of the Sam's Winter in my fridge...

Bourbon or good rum.  Both work for me!

I happen to be a Makers Mark sort of dude, got one going now as a matter of fact.  When I read your post, the 'Bourbon' thread was immediately below yours.  Had to do it!

Hope it's all better now, just keep in mind to bastardize the Navy,  "This is a job, not an adventure"

Heck, if it was all fun we would all just show up every day, for free!

Keep it in perspective, when you get up in the morning, you'll just be you and they'll still be A-Holes.

Mine is MTUDUC, but I been around the block and figured to share.  I started working for family owned joints, now work for a Fortune 500.  Seen it all done it all.  And this is a bit of pot / kettle black, but if ya don't shake it off, it makes ya nuts.
