Yesterday I got the obligatory "did you ride here" walking with my helmet in hand and jacket on.
I love that... just reply with "no the dmv is trying a new method of safe driving and I am beta testing for them"

When I ride the Aprilia to work: "Is that as fast as your Ducati?"
When I ride the 900SS/SP to work: "How much faster is that than your Aprilia?"
But best of all...
When I ride the VFR to work: "Dude that's a sweet Ducati!!!!"

And this is the mechanic you chose to service your bike??
Texas state inspection, they pretty much just make sure your tires aren't bald, and that your lights, and horn work. I wouldn't have let that guy put air in my tires let alone service my bike.

Yeah, when I am carrying around my helmet and get questions like, "You ride a motorcycle???" I've started answering, "No, I just don't feel very safe in cars these days."

I love that question I think everyone has been asked that at least once.

In my elevator after a ride, in full gear holding two helmets and the jacket and gloves my girlfriend wore, some dude asks me with a straight face if I have a bike.
Last night, stopped at a light, wearing helmet and earplugs, some douche in the middle of the crosswalk after the light turned green is screaming at me over my Zards " how big is that bike -- 200ccs? 400?" I had to ride around him to avoid holding up traffic.
The one that really surprised me was a very intelligent friend, after I rode on the expressway to his house whether it was legal to ride it on the expressway. When I sarcasticaly asked him if he's ever seen a motorcycle on the expressway before, he said, "yeah, but I didn't think it was legal." Then I asked, if it was illegal, how do you explain CHIPS, he said, "but that was set in California."
It will surprise you when you get a good question out of the blue. After a ride, heading up in my elevator, a woman who looked like my mom asked me what year my Monster was, then told me how she misses her 750 that she got rid of because she didn't ride it as much as she did when she lived in AZ, asked me how I liked the Zards (by name) then said that she is thinking of getting a new Monster, but the 848 is just too tempting.

Wearing a one piece suit, waiting at a red light. Cute girl in the car to my left rolls down the window and shouts:
"Do your jammies have footies?"
Not dumb at all, but sure made me laugh.

At a Ducati dealership for my inspection sticker: "Where your [front] blinkers?"
Me: "uhmm...they are DP integrated" [pointing to the mirrors]

Is your friend Korean? They don't allow motorcycles on the freeways in Korea, or at least around Seoul anyway.

she was seriously all up ons
sort of question, sort of ducati-related comment from Gixxer McSquidly in the shop.
"hey, which do you think is the better tire? qualifiers, or pilots?"
"the pilots seem rather popular on the board, I'd probably get some of those when I need new ones"
"I think I'm going to get the qualifiers.... you wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway, you ride a ducati."
and when... ummm, I forget which brit mag it was... came out w/a tire shootout and the pilots won, guess who was salty and went out to buy another, brand new set of rubber?

The dumbest question asked about my bike was asked by me.
I asked my mechanic "So you can finish this by April 1st, right?"

My bike is at the repair shop sitting outside on the curb next to a 1940's BMW with a sidecar and a MG32 machinegun mounted and a 999 that had been down hard with serious damage.
Old lady Tool "You all have a death wish?"
Me "No"
Old Lady Tool "your fu*kin' nuts...your gonna die"
and I'm thinkin' to myself ..."what's my mom doing outside the motorcycle repair place?"
