Are 1098 forks the only ones that will work on the 696?

If you want to keep the radial calipers and stay at DUCATI bike forks will fit from:
848, 1098, 1198, M1100S, SF.

Note, all of these forks had a diameter of the legs with 53mm (not sure about the Ohlins).
M696 fork is 50mm top and 54mm bottom.

You can:
A - bore your standart triple from 50mm to 53mm;
B - buy a top triple clamp already with 53mm for Monsters.

Thank you sir....

Just when I thought I was done modding, now I have another project... Looks like I will be purchasing some forks this weekend and finding a local machine shop to make some parts

calculate your cost. When i looked at how much i was going to spend droping in 1098 forks....(granted i have an additional purchase of radial brakes) you might be able to get away with getting a whole new catridge for a little bit more and get more bang for your buck.

Were late 999 forks also radial?

well there you - more forks that will work on a 696

DoWorkSon

One last question... I hope...

Will the spacers and shims be the same size/dimensions for the 999/749 forks as they are for the 1098?

Shims are the same for sure. I didn't pay enough attention to the spacer part of this project - people have been putting SBK forks on Monsters since sometime after 1994... [cheeky]

For now, only pics from the Mad Doctor's @ http://desmodromicamente.blogspot.com/2010/05/mad-doctor-blinkers.html
I had to adapt the standarts plugs, otherwise it's easy.

This week I will plug the LED stipes and post more pics.

Hey pjfa, I responded to your thread in the tutorial section on your 1098 fork upgrade, but no reply there.. I am going to do the upgrade next week.... Do you know if the 1098 Axle will work with the 696 wheel, or do I have to use the 696 axle and make the shims?

I got a decent setup of 1098 forks, with a lower triple and axle, so the less machining the better....
