Cleaned up underseat wiring...
«
on:
March 21, 2009, 11:38:25 AM »
The brake and turn signal wiring under my seat was a mess:
Plus with the new tail light, I didn't like the bracket situation back there.
I bought one 3-pole- and two 2-pole weather-proof
connectors
from McMaster Carr, and got to work.
I cut and drilled an aluminum plate to hold the resistors for the LED turn signals and wiring, ran the wiring and cut lengths as I went along to ensure proper lengths. I also fabbed and painted a new one-piece turn signal/tail light bracket.
Here's how it turned out:
Much neater under there!!!

Not because I say so, but because you want to
(I know you do) here's what you do:
wash the plastic, reroute the rear light wires under the red seat latch bracket, straighten the right connector and paint the new resistor bracket.
I just love tidy

To add to your list of mods: you need to wrap those exposed wires in plastic tubing or electrical tape.

Wash? Huh?
I'm worried the seat latch pin will hit the wires if I put them under the latch.
Maybe I'll paint the resistor tray, but for now I'm liking the "I made this look."

I'd like to get some of that plastic spiral wrap stuff. Electrical supply place is closed on Saturday.

Ok, not under the latch itself - under the red bracket which holds the latch?

Sign it with kids "fat" coloring (crayons?), then paint and afterwards scrape off the paint over the signature. Voila - home made, but beautiful....

Kellermann Micro-1000s (all around). I've had them on since April of '05, and they're showing signs of wear.

That's a frame cross-member. If I run the wires under there, they'll be exposed.
That said, they're already exposed -- from the tail liight to the frame.

I hope they carry it. I've seen it

You should've made that resistor bracket out of a sheet of CF.
That said, it looks "make the beast with two backsing great!"

Thanks, man!
How was dinner?
If you have time in the next week or so, come on over with that belly pan, and maybe you can lend me a hand with my shock.
