talk bout slow.....i ordered one damn screw on the 10th.............................................................STILL WAITING.....................seriously 3 weeks and counting for one screw?!!?

Is it just a typical bolt or something special?  If its just a regular bolt, go to Home Depot and get a replacement.

Besides, three weeks is for newlyweds.  Wait til you've got a coupla years under your belt.  Then you'll never get parts.  After a while, your bike'll just quit workin' entirely out of lack of maintenance.

Perhaps you've never been married?
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [drink] [beer] 3 weeks...  [laugh] [laugh]

Seriously though, it's nice to have Duc Sea local. And I would assume it depends on the part. I've waited 3-5 days on a simple part, 6 weeks on another...

Thats why I went local. I was worried about getting wrongs parts or something. This way if their wrong I can go see someone in person but I don't think it's worth waiting a month or more to get them.

And you trust them to get it right?!!!!

I almost NEVER deal with my local dealer unless he specifically has a part in stock (which they rarely do).

Here's what you do.....

1) Go to www.ducati.com
2) Go to "BIKES"
3) Click on "Parts Catalogues"
4) Click on "2001"
5) Download the parts manual for your bike.

Now, whenever you need a part, look it up, get the part number, and call your local dealer to see if they have the part in stock. If they don't, feel free to go back to the www.ducati.com website and use their "Dealer Locator" and start calling shops until you find one that has the part in stock. Then, order it and have it in less than a week.

I almost NEVER let a dealer look up the initial part numbers for me (their system automatically gives them superceded part numbers for the ones I give them). I couldn't tell you the number of times I've had the dealer order the wrong part for me.

i waited 3 months for parts.

they came with a papal seal and a tag stating they were packing in holy water by the pope's grandmother.

I got the part numbers right from the catalog. I agree, you can't trust them to get the parts right. A few years ago I let a dealer look up a part for me and order it. Sure enough, it was wrong. Next time I'll do as you suggested. Call around until I find it in stock. With the economy the way it is I assume most dealers will keep their parts inventory as low as possible so it will make it harder in the future to find things in stock.

Sounds like your dealer sucks.

I ordered a valve cover for my Multi project from Duc Sea...they didn't have it in stock, but ordered it and I got it in 4 days.  [thumbsup]

I called the dealership today. They said it takes 3 to 4 weeks to get any parts and heres the best part. They said they are waiting for a large order to come in and they didn't order my parts for another week to 1 1/2 weeks AFTER I placed the order. That tells me they hold part orders until they decide they have a big enough order. Lesson learned for next time, only buy what they have in stock. Thanks for listening to my venting. My wife is sick of hearing it!

Now you gonna give Ducati Seattle a call?   ;)

No, because if I cancel my order now I have to pay 20% restocking fee because they were "special order". It will be about $10, but 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

I'd be pretty comfortable telling a dealer that made me wait 4-6 weeks for parts (without a good explanation beforehand) and didn't send my request out for another 1.5 weeks after I originally made it to take their restocking fee and shove it up their ass.
