or rather, they already are rolling.

the layoff announcements are being handed out now.

this is a very surreal feeling.

is it wrong to start a pool on who is going to get it?

is it worse to bet on yourself?

Shit. Good luck, man.

And I'd hold off on the pool if it were me. I don't like tempting fate  ;D

I'd walk right in to the office of the guy doing the laying off and see if he wants in the pool. ;)

Dude I feel for you.

After my layoff in Feburary I was pissed but it turned out to be great.  I had a month off (with pay because of unemployment), got a nice severance and bonus and ended up getting a way better job with waaaaaaaaaay better pay.

Hopefully you get to stay but if not best of luck finding a new job. [beer]

they just called us in to give us the post-op pep talk.

the HR lady was smiling. are we supposed to be happy that we were spared? are we supposed to be happy that we now get to do more work? at least stop smiling for the 5 min ti takes for the director to tell us that we still have our jobs but our friends don't.

the layoff announcements

You guys are still doing lay-offs?  Get with the politically correct times, man.  Our company was "right sized."  There, now isn't that more positive?

Seems like the lay-offs always leave you scratching your head at who got axed and who still stands.  Especially with management.

i have a plan. and before you ask, no. it does not involve selling my body, so just don't even ask.
unless you are paying realyl well.   [cheeky]

i can actually pay off all of my debt with under half of the severance package and still have money to pay bills for another 2-3 months.
in the meantime i could get a flipping burgers or go back to being a bike messenger if i needed to. just somethign that would give me the money to pay the bills. fi that isn't working then it's time to downsize my life. i grew up without much, and i have only recently gotten to the point where i feel i can do pretty much anything i want without too much of a worry. i can go back if i need to.

and failing gettign a job, i'll be a burden ont eh state for a while and collect unemployment.
