4.9%'s pretty good when you consider mortgage rates hover around 5%.

Great bike choice.

Pity you can't get a better loan deal as over here in the UK, Ducati are offering 0% deals on most of their range.
2009 red Monster 1100s
2008 red Monster 696+ - sold
2006 red Monster 620 - sold

Feels good to decide, right?  [moto]  1098S - wow wow wow  [thumbsup] 8)

Are you selling the Monster before you sign the contract on the new bike?

I'm in the minority here for this....but can you not afford the bike without a loan?   You are upside down on it the minute you leave the dealer.   Do you have the money but it's doing better than 4.9 percent for you elsewhere?

Too many people financing toys that are unusable due to crash or accident so soon but still owe the bank money.

If you don't have the twelve or so grand somewhere you shouldn't buy the motorcycle.

i'm right there with you. loans are for houses...
If you drive the nicest car in the neighborhood, work in a cash business, and don't pay taxes, you're either a preacher or a drug dealer...

good questions....

1.  i listed the monster for sale.  if it sells great - if not - no biggie.  but - i did take a deposit on it from a guy today
2.   i have the cash for the bike - BUT - it is being bought for me as a business gift from a company i underwrite a lot of my clients with.  they have agreed to make payments but not pay the flat out 18k - i guess for tax purposes it is easier for them to make payments on it for 36 months.  i won't argue with their choice - just figured i would see if i can find a better loan option for them.  (thanks for looking out though!)

Buy the bike and have them make the payments to you. Then you get the interest too.  [thumbsup]

already thought of that - it won't fly.  they can do it however they want - i will not argue with a free bike!

Chris, that is so ..... so ....I don't know?  Grown up!

I wrote a bunch of other stuff, but had to erased it as it dawned on me one can't really "justify" buying a new Red 1098S Ducati.

sometimes being grownup means you get to play with the best toys.  (motorcycles too)

fiscal conservative and enthusiasm of a thirteen year-old.   great combination.
