I'm not sure how many hockey fans we have in the building, but I wanted to get this up before the games started today. Just curious who you all think will be taking the Cup home this year. Of course I'm rooting for my home team, San Jose, but I've got a pretty good feeling about the Blackhawks. (Sorry for not placing the "boobies" category in there.)

Pens take it in 7 over Detroit and fullfill the Oiler's comparison of the 80's .

The sharks look solid this year, but I don't think they can do it. Detroit's 6-0 shutout this season exposed some weaknesses. Mac is a great coach and he's done a lot there. What did they end up with, 117 points? They're a really good team, but they've cracked under pressure in big games all season.

If Detroit makes it past Columbus, they'll go all the way to a repeat. Columbus has never made it to the postseason, but with Mason as a wall and Nash attacking, they have a one-dimensional but EXTREMELY effective team. The focus on defense first hasn't worked too well, but with Nash and Umburger, cowtown might do something this year. Nash is underrated.

That said, Red Wings all the way. If they can keep their goalies' heads in the game, Detroit will win again.

In the east, Boston are the team to beat. They're young and that might be the only thing that could derail them (choking under pressure). I don't think Chicago has a snowball's chance in hell this year. in 2 or 3 years, they will be a tough team to beat.

I haven't been able to watch too many of the East coast teams. The only exposure I get is when NBC airs Saturday games, and those are usually Rangers or Penguins games. But I haven't seen much of Boston, Washington, or Carolina all season. I do know however that the Sharks have been pissing me off lately. Lately they've been taking one game plan and sticking to it, even if it isn't working all game. The last game against the Ducks in San Jose they played the dump and chase game the entire time. Totally didn't work. Against Phoenix they spent the entire game shooting from the point. Wasn't working. Their one goal happened when they actually crashed the net. So if the Sharks can mix it up and adapt, they have a great chance. Getting past the Ducks will be their biggest challenge. The rest, not so much.

So I've got two other people with me on the Sharks side and I'm the only one who voted Sharks? Vote or die!

As a Stars fan... (i know i know) I can't root for the Wings...
And seeing as how my first Hockey game ever, the Pens put a beating to the Stars, I hope Crosby gets gout and loses a foot...

SanJose, Boston, and NY all have a decent shot... as said before... Bostons youth my be a disadvantage in the long run... either way, my team isn't in it so I won't follow it very closely..
