The Preds ALMOST beat detroit last year in the first round. I forget what the trophy for ALMOST looks like.  ;D

You'll see the wings carrying it in a couple of days.

I really don't think there's going to be a game 7. This season is going to end in Pittsburgh just like last year.

You could have ended that sentence before the word there's...  ;D

After the Pens win in Detroit I am going to teabag you so hard it will leave a mark.

Crazy final 18 seconds. Not sure how else the refs could have handled Scuderi reaching for the puck and blocking with his skate, but whatever...

what was there to handle? it's not like he covered the puck in the crease

not sure if there's sarcasm there,
but to that effect, if you take a look at the video from these final few seconds, the puck actually get's past Scuderi's hand and hit's his leg, the bounces back out in front him, upon which Fluery's white glove of justice is promptly placed over the puck to freeze it.

no sarcasm... the overhead clearly showed what happened, and fleury's glove is what killed the play.

he stopped the initial shot w/his stick, then skate/leg

I thought Scuderi got lucky.  He certainly looked like he was trying to cover the puck but it wouldn't sit still.  The thing that chapped my ass about that game was the no-call on Fedotenko when Manbearpig scored the winner.  He had his stick between Lidstrom's legs which kept Lidstrom from making a play on the puck.  Of course, if whoever that was on defense had played the body on Manbearpig it wouldn't have mattered.

It couldn't be worse than the teabagging Detroit got from the zebras on ice. Christ was that an ugly game.

Shit, I was waiting for a ref comment. What took so damn long?  [roll]

It's not just me. There's a think on the NY Times about the NHL's piss poor officiating in this cup run.

New York Times - These officials Suck

I'm not saying the wings lost this one because of the refs. I'm saying they were getting gooned something hard and not getting calls. This SCF has been the least penalized in 63 years, and that includes the 10 min game misconducts Pitt picked up when they lost their composure.

What the hell do the new york times know about Hockey?

How quickly everyone forgets Zetterberg covering the puck earlier in the series. Even after the replay clearly showed it they called no goal/no penalty shot.

I didn't forget. My contention is not that the league favors the pens, but the league wants it to go seven games. If they wanted a fix for revenue, it would make more sense to have Chicago take on either Pittsburgh or Boston. Both are bigger markets with younger superstars than Detroit. They'd get more marketing bang for their buck. But they're not arranging the teams. I believe the league wants to set the schedule/pace to increase viewership.

Just to point out how lopsided the calls have been, Lidstrom had more PIM than Pronger (!) in the ana/det series, and that also went seven. Pronger couldn't play a clean game if his life depended on it and Lidstrom is hardly a goon. Yet, that's the way the calls went and the series went. The NHL's broadcast contract expires this year. The more drama and the more games, the more ratings and the better position they'll be to negotiate favorably. It doesn't take a grand conspiracy to extend a series with a few key calls (or more regularly non-calls).

And the pens are getting screwed as well. There's no question that missed calls have gotten progressively worse as the series went on. I thought Samuelsson should have gotten 2 minors in game 6 for after-whistle activity. Still, I can't see anyone who knows hockey who'd think Zetterberg's goaltender interference (called by the center ice ref and not the one a few feet away) had any merit whatsoever.

These clowns are ruining this league.

Scuds did get lucky for sure.
Great teams always have a certain amount of luck. But he DID have the mental fortitude to be in the right place doing the right job at the right time, and there is no other explanation for that besides him being a good, smart hockey player

And i love this ManBearPig reference for kennedy. I know what i'll be calling him from now on.
I was previously using Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Boy... But yours is a bit more P.C. ;D

It's a load of BS for sure. Games in May/June should be called exactly like games January.
It's turning in to the NFL.
