Anyone here have any experience with this one?? It claims "active" damping - looks cool - hoping to get some real world imput. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link! That makes 3 steering dampers available for the 696. We're slowly catching up to the rest of you guys.
Ducati Performance ($658)
Kyle Racing ($449)
Hyper Pro USA ($479)
I really like the idea of Hyper Pro's "active"/RSC feature. It reminds me of the Koni FSD dampers for cars. It automatically adjusts to road conditions.

I've got an RSC on my 2001 Monster. HyperPro only makes the RSC in the smaller 75mm stroke. All the others are the CSC.
I previously had a CSC and honestly I can't tell the difference in feel.

From their US website:
Active (RSC)
(Reactive Speed Control)
The HyperPro RSC is the only active valving damper available. As steering speed increases, the internal valving changes automatically to increase the damping effect. This results in a light, easy handling ride at low speeds while still keeping the heavy damping during extreme situations
I'm thinking about getting a damper and was curious about this unique "active" thing. Sounds like a good idea. Nothing for my bike though, side mount only for me - and those are not made as "active".

I have this on my Rs, and it is not the reactive type. As said that is only available in the shorter stroke version that a superbike would use.
But with that being said, the mounting kit is great and the damper is rebuildable and is amazing. I HAD a DP damper that was more expensive and failed within a year, and even when it was working wasn't near as nice as the hyperpro one I now have. Even on the side of the bike I can adjust it on the fly and with how I have it adjusted I have never found that is leave me wanting anything different.

hmmm again unless the damper is hooked to the speedo, how does it 'know' how fast i am going???

It has a built in GPS
Not really - it's not about how fast the bike is going - it's about how fast the forks are moving. Normal steering is "slow" - hitting a pothole or having a tank slapper is "fast". Much like one would talk about suspension compression and rebound - slow movement or fast movement of the shock/forks.

DOH, 'steering speed' not bike speed. i'm relating this to cars and how they use adaptive power steering based on the vehicles speed.

I have used Hyperpro exclusively up until I bought my pasta rocket. The RSC units work on the same principle as your forks/shock. It uses a multi stage orafice design which allows the fluid to flow thru a given orafice size to maintain proper damping. As the speed (piston stroke) increases, smaller orafices are closed by fluid pressure over the shim pack and fluid flows thru the next larger opening until that is overcome by pressure and so on and so on. All of this happens at speeds that boggle the mind so don't hurt yourself thinking about it.
A great unit and I would have bought another one for my RS had they made a top mount.

Trust me when I say not only does the Hyper probably mount better it is a much higher quality part, that is rebuildable. And that is the reason I would recommend one over a DP damper.
And you will probably find it is priced in a much more reasonable fashion then the DP part. I really liked the DP unit I had while it worked, but a lifespan of less then two years is unacceptable on something that costs that much.
