Regardless of whether he was drinking or not, didn't the article state that she over corrected while swerving to miss something in the road? Could he have really done much of anything, sober or not?

That being said, if he was drinking and driving he shouldn't have been. BUT, she swerved into his lane, so his impaired judgment didn't affect that particular accident.

She stopped, but she still took off. She definitely deserves jail time ato, I'd be right with you on that letter. As a side note, the cop with the NFL player was a ridiculous story. I felt really bad for the guy.

Same thing happens at Deal's Gap...  If you see a bagger with water (melting ice) dribbling from either or both saddle bags it's a safe bet there at least a couple in and stop every few piull-offs for more...

I'll try to dig up a link. My wife alerted me to the story originally.

It ties my stomach in knots to even imagine someone dying that way and knowing I was responsible.  The kind of person who could watch that and then drive away deserves to be thrown under a semi.

RIP biker guy

Not defending her running away, but if she swerved into his lane, and he had been completely sober, even if she contacted his bike, he may have reacted better and been able to save it. Who knows though.

My Mom (Bonfy here on the board) was in a hit and run on her Duc. It is one of the few times I've encourage litigation and a law suit. This wasn't becuase the lady hit her, it was because the lady left the scene w/o even stopping to see that she was ok. The sad thing is my Mom knew the lady and she's a lush. In all likely hood she was drunk when she hit my Mom. Shame on that girl for her cowardice, episodes like that are very telling to a persons character.

Second point, was the guy drinking, could he have avoided it? I used to be a heavy drinker(I'm approaching 5yrs sober now). I've been in many  :P wrecks on my bike, not all of them involved liquor.... some did. I can tell you that one of my more spectacular wrecks happened on the interstate the morning after a hard nights drinking. I wasn't "at fault" but I can tell you if I had been completely clean I probably woulda seen it coming in time to give myself the extra 4 inches I needed to clear that bumper.

On a side note.... since I quit drinking I haven't had a wreck period(knock on wood).

(I was also pissed about the Dallas PD officer who held the NFL player at gun point in the hospital parking lot while his mother-in-law expired inside the hospital, depriving him the last moments with her, and the ability to be there for his wife).

Yes that was handled poorly but......if Mr. NFL would have stopped when initially lit up it probably would have been a 15 second conversation.

and risk not getting his wife to the hospital in time to wish her mother a final goodbye?

the story reeked the same way the story of the  officer who kept messing with McNair in Nashville did.

I saw a person back into a car this weekend and then bolt out of the area.

There were tons of people around but I dont think anyone got the license plate. I was on foot or I would have followed the guy and got the plate number.

I am amazed at how often things like this happen.  My Jeep Liberty has been hit at least twice hit and run.

My cousin who has been a model student and person all her life hit a parked car and ran. Her mother found out and made her go back and put a note on the car. I never thought she would do something like that  :-\
