+1, it's happened to me a couple of times.  Last month I came around a blind corner to find road workers with a truck backing up in my lane. :o

Your braking distance will be a lot shorter at 55 than at 70 mph, so you might be able to miss it entirely, and the more speed you can scrub off the better.

Sounds like a review of Proficient Motorcycling might be in order.  ;)
Probably wouldn't hurt anything.

I hope you don't think that I don't know what the consequences are or could be of riding hard off track.

I know all bets are off.

All hazards become more prevalent and more potentially fatal.

Why do people do risky things that they know may maim or kill them?

It's for the thrill !

Why do people climb Mt. Everest ?

Why do they enter the Amazon Rain Forest with all the deadly snakes and insects and other life threatening situations. ?

Why did Evil Knievel continue to jump things when he crashed and broke so many bones ?

It's for the thrill .    Dolph

Would you be able to stop in time at that speed if you came around a blind corner and found something in your lane?
I only ride those speeds if I can see through the corner and well ahead.    Dolph

When I can SEE the deer on the side of the rod regularly, at night, I ride so that I can stop in half the distance my headlight illuminates.

I have no intention of dying in a stupid manner.
1st of all, I don't ride at night.

I've had Deer walk across the road in front of me as well as coming around a curve and there was a bunch  ( about a dozen ) Wild Turkeys .

Gave me heart palpitations each time but I didn't panic and saw the line that would take me through the safest and followed that line.    Dolph

My friends, when I say karma got me, I mean the day after I posted about the 4th ticket, I got another one the very next day on a short spurt (not even 1/4 a mile right at 670 near EASTON (87 on 65).

How do you manage this? Do you somehow not know what speed you're doing? It boggles the mind.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

My friends, when I say karma got me, I mean the day after I posted about the 4th ticket, I got another one the very next day on a short spurt (not even 1/4 a mile right at 670 near EASTON (87 on 65).  I have parked the bike for good for this season.  I have court day in two counties on the 18th and 19th.  I am f'd up and just dazed and now accepted it.  I tried to hint at it at one of my posts on Monday when I said "COURT DATES".   I was too embarrased to say it then.  I am now ready to pick up my bicycle on the 19th and start riding her fully expecting license suspension.  I am going to save up for track days.  Nothing more I can say.  Ever since I had the engine bored this winter, it has apparently gotten me in trouble.  I got to blame something.  Oh well...  all my rider friends say i bring bad luck now and am cop magnet.
I wish all this was a nightmare but its true.  After waiting all winter, the season has not really began and I am cut off for my own stupidity.

So that would make it 5 tickets?  Dooood you need to buy a 50cc scooter.

Apparently I do not.   It is quite obvious that I need to save up for radar detector/laser etc.  My gauges on Saturday were fully of water condensation as I had been riding in the rain Friday.  I showed the  [leo] the gauges all covered by bubbles and that it was impossible to see.  But the  [leo] did not give a crap about that.

That sounds about right.  I am going even lower than that.  Like I mention, I am getting a bicycle for this season.

I been reading this thread and biting my tongue. Thinking that you are pulling our legs here.
but You actually seem proud of yourself.
so way to go you.
i was going to suggest that you should maybe not stop the next time but sarcasm doesnt always come across well on a forum and you migh actually be dumb enough to do it.  8)

Speeding is a calculated risk you just dont seem to be very good at that tho.
You're not a mortgage broker or a banker are you?  ;D

Norm

You have my sympathy. You must be young and until we figured out how to "fly below the radar", many of us have been where you are.
My 3 rules of riding, in order of priority, are:
1 - personal safety.
2 - curtosy(sp) to others.
3 - speed limits and laws.

I wish I was pulling your legs here.  No, far from that I am not proud.  Why would I be proud.  When I posted this I was trying to find out what the consequences of 4th is as that was my first time to have that many tickets and wanted to know the consequences and also vent out.  The whole thing is my own stupidity and trust me I am not proud it as there is simply nothing to be proud about.  I am now the laughing stock with some of the riders I know.

Exactly, I don't seem to have a good eye for the  [leo] and I am paying for that.  If I don't learn from this experience, I am doomed for the life of no motorcycle on the roads.  Simple as that.  My Triumph friend that I ride with is always signaling me when there are cops around and I just dont see them early enough.

I do a lot of riding (put 34K miles)  and like I said past 12 month is when I started getting ticket for first time.  It just all happened in bulk I suppose.  But not even a single ticket between 2004 - 2007.

I wish i was loaded.  The $$ will hurt me deservedly for not being careful enough.  As for being young, nah far from that and old enough to know better  :-[

[weemonster] as for not stopping, in all seriousness out of all the riders that ride with I am the only one who admits that I will stop if  [leo] comes at me.  All the other riders I know talk about running.  I mention this before, running is simply not worth my livelyhood with a felony and endanger my life.

No offense meant by this but how long have you been riding? And how old are you?  Just curious.  I'm sure most of us have had our share of tickets, I know I have.  My bike seems to attract that sort of attention even if I'm not riding fast. Just make sure all your papers are in order and your good to go.  SA_S2R and I bailed on a group ride this past weekend because it would have ended with a ticket or worse. You can still have fun while keeping a respectable speed. And radar detectors are a false sense of security although they do help.

Been riding six years.  Wrecked my first bike in 2003 (Kawasaki 450cc 1982 - I think that is what it was) then got the Monster in 2004.  Age, 36

As for papers, all is in order always.

The bicycle is a good idea. I'd hate to see you posting about your 12th ticket in 4 months.
