After you get used to pushing it about as hard as you can on the track, you realize that you can't achieve that on the street. If you try you likely won't be alive too long, or you at least won't have a license for long. As such, you just slow down a little when street riding and enjoy the ride. Not to say you go the speed limit everywhere...but the pace slows a bit.

For me it means that I hardly ever take the 848 on the street. I know how I like to ride it, and how it likes to be ridden, and neither are compatible with public roads. The slower, more comfortable Multi is a MUCH better street bike. If it wasn't for my wife taking the 848 out on occassion, it would be a full time trackbike.
I guess seeing all those trees go by makes it seem like I'm going real fast.

I'm not out to see how fast I can go.

Just how fast I can go and make it thrilling.

I'm not trying to wear myself out.

You know how it seems like you are going faster the closer to the ground you get.

If a curve speed limit says 35 I take it at 70 .

That's thrilling enough for me .

Double the speed limit in the curves and on the straights.

That's when my fun meter is pegged !   Dolph

When I'm riding through the twisties, I like to remind myself of the fact that there could be a goddamn deer walking into the street 5 feet in front of me at any time.

That serves to keep speed to where it *should* be.

Riding hard is for the track.
Does it hurt less if you hit a Deer at 55 as oppossed to 70 mph ?   Dolph

I generally try to stay 10 to 20 over indicated.  >10 keeps me ahead of cars, <20 keeps my license and insurance in case I get pulled over.

To the OP - I can't believe no one has asked you yet - what is the top speed of your 620?  After you say, we will let you in on our inside secret.

+1, it's happened to me a couple of times.  Last month I came around a blind corner to find road workers with a truck backing up in my lane. :o

Your braking distance will be a lot shorter at 55 than at 70 mph, so you might be able to miss it entirely, and the more speed you can scrub off the better.

Sounds like a review of Proficient Motorcycling might be in order.  ;)

Would you be able to stop in time at that speed if you came around a blind corner and found something in your lane?

Geez - 7 pages. It's a good thing he didn't get EIGHT tickets, we'd run out of band width.

Really it's only like 3.5 pages that mean anything... some is occupied by homoerotic Randall fantasies...

When I can SEE the deer on the side of the rod regularly, at night, I ride so that I can stop in half the distance my headlight illuminates.

My friends, when I say karma got me, I mean the day after I posted about the 4th ticket, I got another one the very next day on a short spurt (not even 1/4 a mile right at 670 near EASTON (87 on 65).  I have parked the bike for good for this season.  I have court day in two counties on the 18th and 19th.  I am f'd up and just dazed and now accepted it.  I tried to hint at it at one of my posts on Monday when I said "COURT DATES".   I was too embarrased to say it then.  I am now ready to pick up my bicycle on the 19th and start riding her fully expecting license suspension.  I am going to save up for track days.  Nothing more I can say.  Ever since I had the engine bored this winter, it has apparently gotten me in trouble.  I got to blame something.  Oh well...  all my rider friends say i bring bad luck now and am cop magnet.
I wish all this was a nightmare but its true.  After waiting all winter, the season has not really began and I am cut off for my own stupidity.

You've no manner of luck at all.  Sorry to hear the news.  I did notice the red S previously - but let it alone.  Can't really help on the court stuff, just not knowledgeable there.  One anecdotal peice of info that helped another rider mitigate a big ticket was that he went into court with the papers showing that he had turned in his bike plate.  The act f supplication did work in his favor, but of course YMMV

But here's something that may save you some cash for a bit.  Check with you insurance about changing your coverage to some sort of storage type setting.  Since you'll not be riding, no need to pay for collision etc - you'll want theft etc of course but that's a lot less.  They may have some rules, like mine won't do that unless I turn in my plate (hassle) but if you are expecting a suspension, it's rather a moot issue.

I plan on reducing the coverage.  I usually do that in winter as opposed to dropping it all together.  Looking forward to picking up my road bike schwinn Peloton (used) on the 19th.  Even by some miracle my license is not suspended, I am done for this season until next June  (except maybe try track for 1st time if  I save up $$ and somehow find a riding suit )

Surpisingly, the Sunday ticket did not say I have to go to court but the one on Saturday from State tropper said I have to show up to court.  Strange.

I plan on pleading not guilty  for the 5th ticket and the next day when I go to 4th ticket see if they suspend me.  I am hoping the 5th ticket will let me plead with only court fee and penality and no points (far fetched dream)

you can rent suits at many tracks. I think Mid-Ohio will let you rent a suit for a track day. I plan on heading out there sometime this summer.
