Are you a  [leo] [Statler]?   ;)   I realize they are people (i hope) but eventhough I am always respectful, it does not mean squat.  Some are pricks and some are not not.  I tend to think most are pricks IMHO.  I don't think the general tendency is to like  [leo] as a biker.

Yes, I had no ticket the first 3 years  and boom last year it all started going bad.

[dupainter] i think so far almost a 1K.
Most trackdays are in the $2-$250 range.

Considering you lose time from work whether you're in court /lawyers office or at the track...

it's even.

Except the track is waaaaay more fun. ;)...and won't lose you your license.

You should give the actual costs a closer look.

3 speeds in NY in a year = license suspension
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

Actually I'm rolling my eyes and trying to decide if I should just lock the thing.

83 in a 55?  it wasn't superslab?  and you weren't banging on it?

in california the point system works like this:

The DMV has the right to suspend or revoke your driving privileges if you accumulate a certain number of points over a set period of time.
    * Four points within a 12-month period
    * Six points in a 24-month period
    * Eight points in a 36-month period

Not sure how it works in Ohio, good luck.
My fast lap is your sighting lap.

+1.  Just one thing to add though, and I hope this doesn't cross the line w/ regards to "Cop Talk" -- police officers are people like you and me, and I've noticed that with a few exceptions if you treat them with courtesy and respect, you're fine.  I've gotten pulled over on my Monster bombing through little towns in southern NH (where I admittedly should have slowed down) and have gotten pulled over, only to have a great chat about bikes, the weather, etc.  Pulling over immediately, shutting down your bike, getting off it, and taking off your helmet and being friendly go a long way.

Act like a punk or a tough guy? Have fun with that.  Want to evade the cops and scatter off?  Have fun with that.  You're not faster than a Motorola.

Anyhoo, as a few other posters have stated, don't speed on the highway - just go with the flow of traffic.  I generally hang out in the " slow " lane since that's the lane least likely to be in the sweep of a laser patrol in the median.  I don't really see the point in bombing down the highway at intergalactic speeds anyways, unless you're in Montana or something - and then it's not really a ticket problem is it  ;D  [evil]

"no cop talk"

your posting does use the words "LEO and cops"

so i would say under a strict reading of the rule above, you violate the "no cop talk" rule no matter how well intentioned.

statler may disagree but he has stated earlier "what part of no cop talk do you not understand?"

i think we should follow the founder's rule here to the letter.

OK, at the risk of pissing off any LEOs on the board, here is my advice (not that I would EVER engage in such behavior). It only works once you've gotten to zero points however.
Change your drivers license to a neighboring state NOW.
Get the charge reduced as much as possible so you MIGHT be able to go to school in the new state and wipe it off your record - most states allow you to do this once every 3 years.
Each time you get a new ticket, go to school and switch your licence back and forth to stay within 1 ticket in 3 years.
Buy and use a good radar detector. I like the Valentine because it shows you what direction and how many are on you.
If you choose to run, get a police scanner so you can track their movements. Find sympathetic people on your favorite routes that will let you "go to ground" well off the road.
Good luck.

Nate,

honestly IF this practice is 'LEGALLY' allowed under the law then it should not be grounds to close the thread.  This is based on the assumption that it is legal to do these steps.

Its taking advantage and working within the laws on the books then there is nothing you can do except tell your congressman to change the laws.

if this practice is illegal then the post should be deleted

if its merely "not nice and getting around the law" but not illegal then you may not like it but its not breaking any laws.

I think I hear the lock coming......

I'm not a mod,

I am pleased to see that the moderators are enforcing the rule honestly in a strict manner, which is a good thing, and i hope they continue to do so at all times and tell others "no cop talk at all" to avoid potentially bad threads on this nature from forming even if they start as positive or start as negative threads.

Ab - the cop talk thing is a standing rule on here, that you had to agree too to join the board.  It's in place to keep things civil, since it can be such a divisive subject.  Academic discussion of law enforcement isn't verboten - but name calling is just FYI.

Good luck with your court time.  As said - track time is cheaper than your tix.  Here's a list of schools

No.  I had some engine work done this winter and put the ferracci bore kit... So she got more pep to her now than before.

El Matador

How far are you from mid-ohio?

If my broke, college student ass can afford trackdays, I'm sure you can too. Trust me, I slowed down considerably on the street after my first few trackdays.

As for them being expensive? look into something called cornerworking. Basically what it consists of is working a half day in corner (basically just standing around and waving flags). After doing doing that, track organizations usually let you ride the rest of the day for free. That's basically how I've done all of my track days  [moto] [thumbsup]

Good luck with the tickets, I came from a country where there is basically no law governing traffic, so when I moved here, I had to pay almost 2k in tickets before I wizened the make the beast with two backs up.
