Alright I know I am not the only one here so...

What did you plant?

Why?

Anything out of the ordinary?

I planted some Tomatoes and Lettuce today along with the Govt plating flowers in her flower beds.

Will put in a proper garden during the week I am thinking

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

I do.  Mine is more flowers than veggies though.  I do the veggies with my parents since I've got a half-acre and they've got something like 30 acres.

Veggies I grow in pots:

Several varieties of pepper - Cubanelle, Cayenne, Ancho, Thai, Hot Red Cherry
'Maters - Usually a couple Roma plants and one or two slicing varieties like Big Boy or Better Boy.
Herbs - Basil, Mint, Italian Parsley

In ground:
Pumpkins, Watermelons, Squash, Cucumber and Zucchini

I'm currently working on getting two different varieties of grapes going.  No clue what types as the man that planted the vines my seedlings came from nearly 40 years ago left us several years ago.  They're three seasons old and needing a support structure & are ready to be pruned into shape.  There's even a couple bunches on one plant.

Perennials:

Flowering:  Yucca, Canna Lillies, Calla Lillies, Lillies, Clematis, Glads, Cherry Bush, Peruvian Daffodils (awesome bloom), Butterfly Bushes, Hostas, "Old" Poppy, Roses, Stoneflower, Stonecrop, Pieris, and Tigre-somethings.

Starting some Foxlove, Bells of Ireland, Lupine and Carnations this year too.  We'll see if they do anything.
Herbs:  Sage, Oregano, Rosemary, Catnip

I think that's all ~

We've planted/are planting

Tomatoes
Peas
Potatoes
Blueberries
Red raspberries
Rhubarb
Strawberries
Parsnips
Beans
Basil
Coriander
Butternut Squash
Lettuce
Broccoli
Radishes
Carrots
Cucumber
Brussel Sprouts
Peppers
A nectarine tree

As far as why-because fresh fruit and veg is delicious. Except for the Brussel Sprouts and radishes-my wife is weird.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I wish I had land to plant on, but since I'm on the 4th floor, I'm going to be planting some herbs in a pot on the fire escape, and in the kitchen windowsill.  There's nothing like garden-fresh tomatoes fresh off the vine.  Wish I had room to plant some.

Howie

From seed:

San Marzano tomatoes
Marglobe tomatoes
Cubanelle peppers
Zucchini
Kirby cukes
Haricot Verte
Parsley
Basil
Mesclun
Arugula

And, since they are perennial:

Thyme
Rosemary
Sage
Chives

Decorative stuff:

Besides the perennials, magnolia tree, and mystery evergreen, the usual assortment of annuals.

Not bad for Da Bronks, huh?

If I could only gain control of the squirrels and my neighbor's weed farm all would be good.

No kidding.  I grow the stuff around to make salsa all summer long.  That's why there's all the peppers, Roma tomatoes & herbs.  I usually grow some Cilantro, but haven't tossed the seeds out yet ~
