hmmmm...interesting but...do you really want all that power in a naked frame?
IMHO, i'd prefer to tweak my S4 up to ~130hp which is plenty for me and save enough money for a used 1098  ;D

+1  IMO if one wants super (ie 1098) power he (or she) should get a super bike

Agreed.  Besides, I still cannot get over the flattened headlight look.

Good grief, buy a set of Angel Eyes or something. It's not like you're not allowed to mod a Monster folks. What's the first thing you do when you buy a current gen Monster? You start taking the ugly off!! Tail chop reflectors, exhaust, and so on, to what ever extreme you want. I hate the headlight too, however I'm not gonna let it ruin the bike for me..... as for a 1098 engine..... you can't use that much power in a 1098 on the street, in a Monster prolly overkill. I've said more than once I think the 848 mill would be perfect for this class of machine. Retuned for more mid and low range, nice and light bike, spells fun for me.  [moto]

Ok, this site is just speculating, and made an out-of-proportion photochop to go with it.  C'mon.

That said, I'm growing tired of supernakeds, and a 1098 mill in the new monster platform just wouldn't jive IMO.  I'd rather see a naked 1098 or 848 with a handlebar, analog gauges, etc.  Not only would it likely work better (ie Mille to Tuono), it'd probably look better too.

Ehh... I don't know about looking better. You seen either of those bikes with their clothes off? It's a plumbing nightmare. Ducati would definitely need to clean 'em up a bit.

As far as the headlight goes, face it folks, this is the decade of the ugly headlight, check out most of the cars.  I will have to see how well it works before I pass judgement.

I have seen them and they look very much like a monster with a lot of plumbing.

I've been told that the nekkid 1098 will be just that - a nekkid 1098. No more watercooled Monsters.  :'(

I couldn't agree with you more!   [thumbsup]

It would be nice to tweak the plumbing a bit on the 848 motor to simplify the looks too.

Well if that's true, maybe they'll do a better job styling the naked 1098 than they did with that 696 abortion that they're calling a monster.

Juan

Well if Ducati were to turn a 1098 into a monster/naked bike, it would be nice to talk to the NCR people, they did in My Opinion a really nice job with the Testastreta 998..! I am sure most of you guys have seen it.

Wow. That NCR bike is sweet. I really like that. As for the 1098 monster, isnt that a bit much power? Maybe not I guess. I just think the way the motor will be retuned and the bike itself isnt that comfortable for highspeed riding, maybe overkill. I mean I havew an S4 and I could use a few mroe ponies, but not 60.
About the same time you're dragging your knees through a series of tight left-right-handers on Sunday afternoon, some guy in white shoes is sweating a 3-foot putt. Go figure.
