Trade you my milk for your Ducati...

So, a few years back I was at the beach riding a Banshee and we stopped at a little lake in the middle of the dunes... as we were sitting there a quad came scorching across the dunes and proceeded to skip all the way across the lake, rapidly followed by two more quads. (One of which sank when the front end dipped too much.) The next day we stopped at the same spot and a motorcycle with a rear paddle tire made it across too.

I was talking to some buddies today and they think I am smoking crack. I have a still photo of the whole thing, but you can't tell if the water is 6 feet deep or 1 inch deep from the picture. Although, you can almost make out some swimmers in the corner. I googled it and couldn't find anything... need help from my friends on the webs.

Can you guys / gals post up any video or pics you may find on it??

I've seen snowmobiles do it and knew if you put big tires on a quad they can float, but didn't know motos could do it!! waytogo

Check out the show Nitro Circus on MTV.

There was an epsiode where they featured this for about 10 minutes.  Some really good slow mo of how it works. waytogo

+1 for Nitro Circus. They got 1000ft or so across a lake, but they had fabricated a panel that acted like a ski for the front tire. They wouldn't have made it as far without it.

They also had an episode where they rode across a swimming pool with a stock dirt bike... 30 feet or so.

I know it is very plausible on most stock bikes... the only mod I have seen on them was just the sand tires... more of a paddle on back than a knobby... it's just crazy to see in person.
