Now that's a good picture! Other than riding a scooter there's nothing better than some good old fashioned metal can plinking! The ultimate cheap metal "self re-setting" target!! [thumbsup]

Walther P22 w/ laser sight and a dead Progresso soup can

How you like that P22?  I've thinking of picking one up for a while now.

Is it comfortable to shoot (I like the looks, but they feel and look tiny) and does it feed all .22 rounds smoothly or does it prefer only the more expensive (relative of course) rounds?

I love the P22, but I think that if I had it to do over again,  I would have opted for the PK380.  The new PK380 is slightly larger as it is a .38 cal
The P22 is truly meant for those with smaller hands,  I find that my pinky hangs off the bottom of the grip.
I now have my sights set on the P99 AS 9mm as soon as I get the $$ together.
As for the rounds feeding smoothly into the P22,  I havent had an issue.  I use standard velocity CCI ammo.  (that is all I've put thru it so far)
Just make sure that you use a good heavy bullet. 35-40 grain.  If the bullet is too light, it wont overcome the spring force in the slide and cycle the weapon.

The PK is for CCW, and with how expensive and hard to come by .380 ACP is, I couldn't suggest it for more than that. GREAT gun, my brother will be picking his up soon for CCW, but not a practical plinker unless you roll your own.

The P22 on the other hand, is relatively inexpensive, and perfect for plinking. .22 is ridiculously abundant, and cheap. They can also be had for a song on GunBroker and at various gunshows if you are lucky enough to get them around you.

This is just my $0.02 btw.

.380acp ammo has finally started to show up in stock again after the drought of 2009. Although it's hard to shell out $20.00 for a box of .380 ball ammo. [bang] Doesn't matter if it's Sellier & Bellot, PMC, Fiocchi, Winchester (white box), etc. The on line/mail order price (ie. Natchez Shooter Supplies) seems to have hunkered down to $20/box. If you know of cheaper prices please share. Thankfully I had several thousand rounds of ball and around 500 rounds of Hydra-Shock for carry use before the ammo blitz hit. I don't even want to know what the current 2010 prices are for good hollow point .380!!

Well, I'm looking at picking up a .380 as a 3rd ccw gun.

.380 ammo's a good bit cheaper than the other stuff I have.

These prices're really pissing me off.   :-\

I've had mine for 5 years or so.  The hammer started following the slide down when you load a new clip and hit the slide release.  Taken it to a couple of gunsmiths who say the problem can only be fixed by Smith and Wesson (they build them for Walther).

I've sent it back to Smith twice with no luck.  I pretty much only use it shooting on private land- I've had a couple of range marshals tell me I couldn't use it with the hammer falling, even though it's not fast enough to set a round off.

I'd buy a Ruger if I had to do it all over.

*edit* forgot to mention they're assembled with cheap spring pins that back out of the frame.  Mine did after 3 or 4 range trips.  No big deal- just tap them back in, but not a sign of quality craftsmanship.

Ouch!!! Checked my .380 Federal Hydra-Shok stash and I have 600 rounds!! Whoopee!! [thumbsup] Thought I had 500. Hell, at $35 per 20 round box and it sounds like it's the best investment I've made lately. [laugh] That's a $1,050 worth of Hydra-Shok at those prices. I've had it so long I'll never remember what I paid for it. Guess it doesn't matter now. As it's been said, ammo may be the new underground currency. [evil]

willz2155

i didnt pay for it, but i was signed for it.

Now that's what I call a carry gun!!! [clap] Guess that's too big for an ankle rig. ;) Is the axe there for size comparison?  Have fun with it. Looks expensive. At least you have two barrels to play with. [thumbsup]

i took that pic during my first tour in iraq back in 06, some chick asked me if there was anything over there that i actually liked haha.  it is a little to big for an ankle rig, but it fits just right on top of a hmmwv (humvee for you civilians, which i hope to be in a few months!).  its been a while since i was a .50 cal gunner but if i remember right the ma duce costs something like $14,000 for a unit to replace.
