Here's an early birthday present from my wife.  [clap]

Picked it up yesterday.  It was purchased 10 days prior to that, but, in its infinite wisdom and unbounded charity for my well being, the State of California had previously decreed that I must wait 10 days prior to taking delivery.   [thumbsdown]

Mossberg 500 Tri-Rail 12 gauge, 20in barrel, holds 7+1 shells.  [thumbsup]

Nice.  They started making the 500s with a longer tube finally.  You can't swap the barrel with most model 500s because the tube is shorter on most of them.  Then again, you probably don't care.. :-)..  Nice wifey!

The 7 shell tube has always been around. Call Mossburg directly to order other barrels. It is generally cheaper to buy direct from them. Most gun stores only stock the barrels for the 5 shell tube.

I have to say I am surprised as I've NEVER seen one until recently and they certainly weren't in their catalogue several (well, 10+ years ago)....

I have several Mossbergs... 18.5" barreled 500s that I added factory ghost ring sights to, a couple of 590A1s and even two Class III 14" scatterguns with factory ghost rings. Damn good reliable pump guns! I think the Marines use the 590s. And with nothing in the way they load faster than Remingtons or Benellis. Like a revolver the faster you shoot the quicker you have to reload. [thumbsup]

The "all weather" or "marine use" M-500 has had 7 shell tube for a long time. They had a home defence 9 shell tube gun back in the day. I thought that it was way too long and got the standard 18.5" slug gun. Here is what I built out of it. AKA "FUBAR Wrench"
