I have the same gun. A Benelli Nova pump12, the long frickin barrel. The pump is a little rattly, but its a great gun, simple take down, easy to clean.

come listen my 40s vintage Ithaca.  it literally sounds like something is gonna come off, but it works as smooth as a horny hooker.  the slider just has enough friction to keep it from cycling by itself when you fire.  the bolt lockup flanges lock up ok, but the arm play is very loose.  i may replace some parts someday, but it just love the look on ppls faces when they work the action.. rofl

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Dude, I agree.

That barrel is make the beast with two backsing long!!!!

the pump definitely is a little rattly, but before buying it, I talked to Tizzy and he said it is a great piece.

i said it was a very good s/g and that you had better have worn a mask cause you got it for a steal, esp in new condition.

Benelli's warranty coverage is awesome too.  They handle warranty claims for Stoeger guns and I was very surprised how good they were.

Slightly off topic... but speaking of smooth shotgun actions I was lucky enough to inherit my Grandfather's Winchester model 12 (12g) and model 42 (.410g) after his death in 1968. Many thanks to my Dad!!! There are lots of smooth action shotguns out there but those two guns are like butta!! ;D Good old fashioned manufacturing + lots and lots of use by Grandad = great slick guns with a ton of sentimental charm. I hope to pass them down to my step-son or nephews. Lucky little bastards! [laugh]

I bought a mint, 60s vintage Model 12 Trap, ported with a 30" barrel and the thing is awesome!  Went from shooting 15-18/25 with my 870 to 22-24/25 very regularly.  Fits me perfectly.  Paid $400 for it.

Notice on your Benelli that the cap at the end of the magazine tube has a "nipple" - that's to push the pins in the receiver out a bit. The 'other' side (the inside of the cap) has a lip, that's to pull the pin the rest of the way out from the other side.

No need for a drift or anything. Very handy.

on the ww2 mausers, you had to use a bullet tip to open the magazine if you had to dump your rounds.  which of course would cram the projectile back into the case a bit.  good thing those mauser receivers were overbuilt.

I'm seriously thinking about modding the hell out of my M91/30..

I found a thread that pretty much out lines what I was thinking.

http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=29075

ahh, to be the fool who puts probably $800 into a $100 rifle.... with very good results.

there are a few things I'm not 100% sure on, threading the barrel for the receiver, indexing the barrel, groving for the extractor, and truing the receiver.  every thing else I have a pretty good idea how to do.. (90% of the fun would be learning)

it's not as big a deal as you would think.  you have to tighten the barrel down but not torque it and then eyeball the extractor location.  the last turn is a very small amount, like a 1/8th turn to torque it, so you measure a 1/8th turn from "tight".  If you overshoot it, then you can shim it and if you undershoot, you shave the receiver face.  Not a big deal.

A funny fact, the factory did not install the front sight until after the barrel was installed -- receiver in a jig at zero deg, machine made the dovetail cut.  they were usually +/- 5 deg which is why the mosin front sight has like 10 mm of windage...

Cool thread.  Not my favorite colors for a gun, but to each his own......

cool, I think I'm gonna start ordering one part a month, starting with the stock.. based on what I've heard, I'll probably have everything I need by the time the stock gets here from richards microfit..  [laugh]

my brother is a kick ass tig welder so I'll probably have him fab up the bolt lever.

Cool choice.  I dig the laminate stocks.

i seriously doubt it is blued and then painted.  anything is possible.

more likely, it is a Lauer coating.  They have like 4 or 5 different blacks and you can mix them with colors as well.  they have strip and pattern kits too.  i love that stuff, i have used it on engines and it is indestructible.

Not showing anything off yet, but just put a magpul angled fore grip on the M4.  Thing has a nice feel to it.
