I thought 18in was the shortest legal barrel unless you have the permit/stamp for a shorter barreled gun?

Unless its a Taurus Judge.  .410 with a ~3-4" barrel!  I keep looking at those for some reason...

I'm jealous that wherever you work is conducive to OWB carry.

Most LEO's carry at least one firearm OWB. Then the one secreted somewhere else and a couple auto knives.

ghost right sights are overrated.  a bead is fine.  the best kind of "sighting" for self/home defensive situations is muscle memory, which means practice, practice, practice.

Sure is hell on the drywall, all that practice.  ;D

I look at them too but will admit, I'd be a bit afraid to fire one.

yes yes, but i thought it was for ccw. i've got a few owb holsters and a few iwb holsters. depends on the time of year/weather, the gun, and what i'm wearing. i prefer the comfort of the owb, but iwb is what i do most of the time.

Those of you here that carry, or can carry (and are not LEO)

what is your reason for doing so?

Im curious.

death threats growing up. my ol' man put many a drug dealer behind bars. it made my life quite exciting.

i also believe in being able to be anywhere i want without fear for safety. (not that i go charging into orange mound or south dallas for a kickball tourney).

sounds reasonable to me.

I think I may apply for my ccw, but only to make it easier to transport pistols to/from the range.

I don't think i could come up with a reason to justify carrying around here.  It's not a bad place to live and I don't have enemies.

I think i would feel strange doing it.

I've been conditioned my whole life that weapons stay unloaded unless it's time to hunt (and that you only point a weapon at something you intend to shoot)

So. . .

I guess I'm just not there yet.

On the other hand, if someone came into my home, I sure as shit would help them leave with lead poisoning.

i don't plan on somebody robbing (or whatever) me. Nobody leaves the house in the morning and thinks "today's the day I'm going to get robbed, better load up!"

My wife carries as well. This started the conversation off: http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/Police-seek-men-who-kidnapped-raped-SMU-student-in-Dallas-78786042.html

The area is a fairly nice part of town too...

In the business we call you sheep.

I was taught to treat every gun as loaded. Might as well be so.

Crime occurs in every area/demographic/zip code.

Gotcha. yeah, I carry OWB concealed when I can. Much more comfortable. If not it's just a j frame iin my pocket.

I know, I know.

It can happen anytime, anywhere.

I get that.
