LOL. A bunch of vultures in this forum! Now we see why everyone was demanding they replace the wheels.

Heh I am assuming that the shop will keep the ones they jacked up.
Anyone know the weight of the stock S4 wheel?
I've never been one to sue (strong believer in krama) but here it would be VERY tempting. I mean you ole Cyclegear has to have some $$$

Naw they will make good. (fingers and toes crossed) I let them know the price of the wheels....several...several...times
If not I get to make them. If that be the case I am getting much free stuff from my local cyclegear shop...
I'm in Memphis TN guys where a least 85-90% of the soprtbikes around here are raked out drag bikes....with neon....We have bike night on Beale Street Wednesday nights and you don't wanna know how many other cycle owners have walked up to me and said "What's wrong with your bike?" Simply because they've never heard a dry clutch.
There's a couple regulars out there! (Hell, I used to be one). Though I never rode the bike down to Beale at night. Too many doing the booze cruise for me. I never got any work on my bike done in Memphis. Ever. It went back to Nashville to Corse motorsports everytime for Alain and Andy to have a look at. And if I need a run of the mill part, I went down to DeSoto Honda. Best of luck to you.

I'm pretty sure that when I used to have my tires mounted at a dealer, there was a sign there that said, "Not responsible for damage/scratches to wheels". I do my own tires, so all the scratches are my own damn fault.

That's a bullshit cop-out. It's absolutely their responsibility. Just because they put up a sign doesn't mean they can do it...

The last shop I worked at, if you were real worried about your wheels getting scratched, because it does happen occasionally, he would let you do it yourself on his machine. At your own risk. I bet those guys won't pay for those carbon wheels to be replaced.

thats not that bad of an idea, i wished more shops did that. heres the machine, give me say...$25 bucks go scratch your own damn wheels.
it would be cool if the operator had to put a $500 deposit to do your wheels. that way hed treat them as if they were his own. you need to see some guys chanigng tires man, they dont give a shit.

He would let you do it for free if you bought your Rennsports from him. Then no one to blame but yourself. Seriously though, sometimes they get scratched, no matter who does them. I don't see how
any
shop could guarantee no scratches, especially considering how many times tires get changed on and off of some guys wheels.
"it would be cool if the operator had to put a $500 deposit to do your wheels. that way hed treat them as if they were his own. you need to see some guys chanigng tires man, they dont give a shit."
The only problem with that is that those guys changing tires usually (at least around here) make about $200 a week.

Seriously though, sometimes they get scratched, no matter who does them.
Accidents do happen, however, people need to own up to it...sticking them in the trunk and not saying anything, or in this case telling his wife it will rub off,is complete BS.
Since it is a service being paid for, by a person that is supposed to be a trained technician they shouldn't damage the wheels, scratches are damage, and they should make good on it,no matter the cost...if not they should not change tires.
Can you tell, I have had too many wheels damaged at dealerships that don't give a crap.
whew, I'm better now

While working at a Ducati Dealership, I started dealing a little bit with a Hard core Harley/Chopper tuning shop down the road (They use to do our Road Worthy Certs for Registration) I now take my wheels off, and take it into these guys for them to do the tyre change, Considering the crowd of customers he has to look after, well, I'll tell you how he described his typical customer.
"These guys are hard core, they will spend 10's of thousands on there Harleys and Choppers for the latest performance bit's, or chrome bling bit, They become very good friends, but if you make the beast with two backs up and scratch/damage there pride and joy, they don't come in and complain or call you, they walk in the front door and knock your ass out!"
So he has the best machine that money can buy, and they are very very cautious, it's a bit more work for me, as I have to take the wheels off and put them back on, but after having my rear rim resprayed twice due to the Damage from shitty machine the local Ducati dealer uses (Yes the same dealer I worked for, they have now gone out of business), I'd rather do it this way.
