Dispatch: Zimbabwe

Dispatch broke up after an album in 2002.

They got back together to do one last concert (so they thought) in 2004. They were expecting between 10,000 and 30,000 to attend Hatch Shell in Boston.  Turns out they had an estimated 110,000 from all over the world putting it at probably the largest concert for an independent band EVER!

There's actually a DVD on that.  Very good too.  Called "The Last Dispatch"

Last year they wanted to do a fund raiser for the children of Zimbabwe so they put on a three night concert at Madison Square Garden.
No independent band had ever sold out Madison Square Garden, as the story goes.

Dispatch sold it out all three nights!

I'm always impressed with them. Definitely a lot of sound out of such a minimal arrangement!  [thumbsup]

Plus I've never actually seen a solo xylophone jam in concert before either. Wow.  :o
