Wow that's gotta suck for the dealer.  If I have an electrical or software problem under warranty I get paid for how long it takes to fix.  I tend to lose more on customer pay diagnosis on difficult problems versus warranty.
What do you guys get for diag time we get an hour in most cases but if its a difficult problem like a hard to find short or open circuit we sell additional trace time usually about 3 hours for cust pay

Just depends on what type of problem it is.  If its a check engine light for something simple its usually a half hour.  I can sell more time if needed although sometimes its difficult to explain to a customer when it gets over 4 or 5 hours for straight diag time. The most I have ever been paid warranty was 37 hours diag time for tracing an intermittent communication fault that couldn't be fixed by several other dealers. It left my hands fixed but by that time the customer wanted out of it.

Sorry to the OP for the threadjack.

I have been without a bike now for 32 days.  The dealer has supposedly had the wiring harness on order for over three weeks.  As I sit at home and "just chill" as many of you suggest, I'm watching the best weather of the year come and go.  Loving life. :-\

Try to get a different bike on loan from dealer to use while yours is in the shop?  Rental?  I don't know, just throwing out ideas.

Are you in the US?  If so, did you call Ducati Seattle re the wiring harness?  You'd be surprised how quickly they can get their hands on stuff that it takes other dealers months to get.  When a part takes a couple of weeks, I start calling around.  Ducati Seattle, AMS, BCM, whoever.

No bike is a bad month.  I hate watching good riding weather pass by because my bike is down.  It feels like someone killed and ate my family.  Well, ok, only sorta like that.   ;D

Where are you located? In texas, if your bike is in the shop for more than a month under the original warranty, it is considered a lemon. If you have a similar law in your state, the dealer has to give you a new bike. As easy as that.

Danmack_98

Illinois lemon laws do NOT cover motorcycles.  go figure.

Waiting and doing without is sure frustrating.

I'm looking at possible Retina Surgery for starters. No Laser Surgery , the knife to the eye.

Want to trade ?

I could loose my vision in my left eye .

I waited for 3 months for a full Tergmignoni Exhaust which I wanted for Ohio for what warm weather riding was left, but it showed up in November.

I would try for a loaner of a used bike of some brand that the dealer has in inventory.

There are several options to that operation of yours. You should contact Swampduc, he is an Eye Surgeon, He might be able to give you some less invasive options.

That blows Danmack! Def start calling around. I waited 3 weeks on some DP stuff thru my now defunct dealer (gee and they prob wonder why!) then started calling around and had everything I needed lined up in an hour and at a fraction of the cost.  [thumbsup]

Now if only I could perform this magic on the damn Camaro I have been waiting on since June!!  [bang]
