Had a great time, even with only the half-loop.  Smiley
Thanks for the org work, derb!

Good to see familiar faces, and the new folks as well!

Happy to hear that Luca didn't have a bad result with that rear tire.  Shocked

We (Matt, Joey 'n I) ate at the Screaming squirrel for lunch, glad we weren't *really* hungry or working to a schedule, service was slowwwwww. Cry
I tried to get close enough to Joey's bike to pull a plug lead to slow him down, but couldn't.  cheeky

Finally got into the 'groove' going back down the '##', and that felt good.  Smiley

...tire...

i followed the group at a slow pase through the 58 trying to spare the tire as much as i could. Then decided to do the "boring loop" to Ojai through the loooooong straight 33 bit. I was hanging off the bike trying to ride on the sides of it...

too bad i didnt take a picture! it was scary...by the time i was in Ojai there was a continuos 1inch white strip of thread all around the tire  Grin ...so i stared calling ALL the shops in Ventura and finally found one that would mout the tire...IF i had gotten there in 1/2 hr...useless to say i made it Smiley

once there i notice a "lowest price guarantied on tires and free mout"...hmmm...SWEET!

the fine print said "free mounting and balancing on tire off the bike"

OK

so when i read the bill it said

tire: 168$

bla bla bla

1hr labour $50

bla bla bla total 236$....wow

SO... i ask the guy about the $50 labour...(the guy worked on the bike for 20min.)

smiling he says i was lucky because they had just reduced the rate to 50$ form $90 (or something)...and they applied $50 bucks to tires because it was, infact a smaller job...

right brhind him was a BIG sign that said " 1/2 hr labour 44.95$"....

so i make him notice that in spite of my "luck", he was still charging me 5$ more than what i was supposed to pay...(forget the lieing)...but i left it at that without giving him the chanse to respond just because i didnt want to hear an other lie...

SO...i go to the cashere and ask about the "lowest price guaranteed"...

"how does the deal work?"

"mmm"..."well, that means that we garantee that the price we give you is the lowest we can give and its garanteed garanteed"...

"...i see"..."can i speack to a manager please?"

"what for?"

"mmm"..."because im pretty sure thats NOT how it works"

"ok, go to the parts desk and ask"

*i go to the desk*

"who knows what the terms are for the garanteed lowes price on tires?"

"i do, what is to know"

"...well, your casheer told me that you could garantee that the price on the tire was the lowes you could give"

"...really?"

"..really"

"...well it means that we will mach any price...."

*i interrupt him with a smile*

"...of course. But you should tell your casheer about it..."

*walk back to casheer*

"...you shoud have a chat with your manager"

*she rolls her eyes and gigles with the other casheer*

*i stop, turn around*

" so what are you giggeling about?
 A) that you dont know what you are talking about?
 B) that you made up a random story to cover that you didnt know what you were talking about?
 C) or that as easy as it might be, you still cant manage to do your job correctly?"

*no answer*

....so i tke my bike and roll home...

of course i jump on the intraweb and look for a cheaper tire...found one for $20 less

this morning i call the shop and talk to the sales guy.

"hi, i found a tire at a lower price"

"is it on the internet?"

"yes"

"we cant mach internet quotes"

"i know, but this is a phisical shop just like you guys not an online shop"

"oh...well, i dont think i can mach it"

"can i talk to your manager, please"

"sure"

"hi, i found a tire at a lower price, i would like you guys to mach it"

"well, i dont think we can, we dont mach onternet prices"

"well, this is not an internet price. If i call the shop on the phone, they will give me the same price..."

"i see"

"yep"

"well, i will have to sak the GM. He will call you tomorrow..."

I guess there is some kind of law of nature that people who go by AMY must be crazy.

Oh and BP sorry to hear about your mishap, but I am glad you and the bike are ok.

Probably the *only* shop in the area open on Sunday and with tire and mounting available.  Tongue

Time to buy a Lotto or three.
