You can drive drunk as much as you want and crash into shit (Paris Hilton)
but if you shot ur self on a pistol that is quazi legal. you get 2 years. Now maybe i can understand hes retarded enough to shoot himself and id say you should volunteer 1 year because your stupid enough to not holster the damn thing.

means

paying his room and board for 2 years

court costs

etc

all because

he didn't have a piece of paper

he didn't rob a bank
or rape anyone
or even shoot the bird

Moreover, drunk driving is illegal in every state, whereas a "license" to have a pistol is not required in >30 states.

Compare the situation with former Rep. Bob Barr (of Georgia).  Was handed an antique pistol at a party which was loaded and he accidentally fired it (into a wall).

No prosecution.

An even better example then Paris Hilton is Donte Stallworth. He was found guilty of DUI and second degree manslaughter after he struck and killed a 59 yr old pedestrian.
For all of which he was punished with a 24 day jail sentence and a loss of his Florida drivers license.

well, there is such a thing as IWB holsters (inside waist band), and a very acceptable form of concealed carry.

some pistols have a clip option to carry it there holsterless.
