Happy 4th Will,

I was just going over the bike, lubing and checking tightness here & there. What's the normal or allowable play between the cush drives and the rear sprocket? There's a bit of lateral play.

Thanks......

sorry, i don't have a spec off the top of my head, but i have seen them get overly loose, usually aftermarket carriers though.  there is a certain amount of normal movement, so when you get a chance swing on by.

With enough money, anything is possible.

My point is this: do you not remember the ass pain that Rick went through with the immobilizer on his old 999?  Think red key needs dash needs ecu needs red key = $$$$$$$$$$

ok well, its like this, no red key no problem. if all is good with everything else.
but...

if the dash dies then you need to re-intitialize it, which requires one red two black

so, if you need a red to replace a bad dash and no red key then you get a whole ign set which comes with red plus 2 black.  but... your ecu probably isn't virgin if it is stock or if was dp that got learned.  because on older 3 key bikes the ecu also got mated.  (not like that anymore)

so to get a red key is for this purpose only also, you cant add blacks without a red.

you can get ecus to get flashed to kill the whole immobilizer system. i would need to call the dude to find out how that affects replacing dash, i suppose it wouldn't look for the transponder at all, so i a new dash, if needed, would just skip the initialize part when first powered.

new bikes are different, and better when it comes to this

Thank you, thank you, thank you Will!!  Absolutely a spot on call. The rear drive has never, ever been so snug.

More kudos to Will...he had to "creatively" remove my stock clutch to install the EVR slipper.  I love the way it now shifts, both down and up!  Thanks again Will.
