I'll have updates in a while. I'm currently adding Beast TPO pod filters, re-doing all the wiring to make it cleaner, adding a very small windscreen, and having a custom headlight fabricated so the headlight will sit back into the forks more.

the more I look at your bike, the less likely I'd be ponying up for a Streetfighter.  Right now, the local dealer has a '99 996 for 6K and it has just over 6K miles on it.  Oven with 1K in fab work for the battery/electronics and some heli bars (which is generous as hell, IMO), that's just 7K for a real (non-corporate) streetfighter.

I need to fx my CB so I can sell it and free up my garage for another Ducati!

Agreed. The Streetfighter is awesome...but true streetfighters are built, not bought. It's nice having something totally unique, that looks exactly like you want it to.

I'm into mine for about $4K or so. The biggest single portion of that is in the bodywork and paint though. I opted for a professional since I have zero fiberglass/paint experience. However, I did save a lot of money on the custom brackets and CNC work, since it was done by a friend and his buddy.

The 996 sounds cool. They're really fun projects. I'd love to do it again.

I'm probably just peeling off the bodywork on a Superbike and hiding teh battery somewhere -- all of which I can do myself so that's a lot of $$ saved.

Funny thing is my wife is skeptical -- she thinks by the time I'm done, I would have spent too much on an older bike and it'll be comparable to just getting a new Streetfighter, and I told her that spending more on a real streetfigher is worth it and she goes;

"but why would you want an older bike instead of a new one???"

she just doesn't get it...

Sure. After everything is removed, you'll look at the unused frame tabs and decide you hate them. Next thing you know you'll have a lonely engine sitting there, and you'll be prepping the frame for powder! 

I lucked out with my wife. When I told her my plan she just told me don't cheap out...do it right.

Man, all are gorgeous bikes. Very inspirational - I can't wait to tear into a bike one day and build it just the way I like.

nah, take a look at the frame, it's a sbk. he swapped out the desmoquattro for an air cooled 900, monster top triple and bars
