Ignitech module dead!

So, this is my second ignitech module to get messed up on me... not sure what everyone else's experience has been so far, but my first one would not accept programming after connecting it once to my computer.  I sent that one back and they couldn't figure out what happened either, but confirmed that it did not accept programming changes.   ???

At least that time the module still ran the bike just fine, today I find that the bike will not start at all and finally figured out (after replacing the ignitech module with the OEM modules) that the ignitech unit was not working.  The unit does not connect to the computer and does not run the bike either.

The only thing that I can think of that may have caused this is that this past week has been the first week of 90+ degree, high humidity weather days and that coupled with running temps may have caused the unit to fry?  I don't know...

any thoughts?  :'(  I will be emailing ignitech shortly

I had one reset itself to a Yamaha setting & ( of course) it wouldn't start my Ducati. Can you get into it enough to verify what program it's running. The guys over there have been very helpfull to us but there is still a lot of testing we need to do before I'm completely comfortable. I also have a set of thier coils but haven't used them yet.

Innnnteresting.

Thanks for keeping us updated! fwiw, I got in another batch of `em, too. If Ignitech wants to save some money, I'd be ok with sending you one and them owing me until the next batch.

cool, thanks for replying guys.

norm, the unit doesn't let me connect, so I can't even check what program it's running unfortunately...  :-\

chris, thanks, i'll CC you after jan replies back to my first email and hopefully we can figure this out.  I'd really like to get the unit back to them so can diagnose the problem and tell us what happened.

for now though, the OEM modules are running the bike beautifully and I'm at least up and running....

Hey folks, just received the replacement unit yesterday and I thought I should close the loop on this.  Here's the email I got back from Jan on the broken one:

////////////////

Hello We sent it back 19.6.08. There were bad connection inside ignition. It was cause by production. We apologize you.  Regards Jan MatousIgnitech s.r.

That's all the info I have.  Hopefully it's not a batch manufacturing issue, but it seems I'm the only one who's been affecting thus far...

are you going to pursue using it?

you've had a bunch of problems.

I still think they will work out fine, but personally, I'm proceeding slowly.

good question, I haven't quite decided, but I'm going to go the same as norm on this one.  I at least have the option of keeping either the ignitech or the OEM modules as backups, so I'm definitely keeping it... but cautious

I have similar problems with my module. Just got the thing programmed with the same advance settings as greenmonster had in the older posts and the bike didn't start at all! I'm pretty sure i got the wiring correct and the bike started on the old modules fine. Any ideas?

hiero

can you program the module still?  or can you not connect it to your computer at all?

I can program it just fine and everything seems to work just fine when its connected to the computer, but the bike just doesn't start when the module is on the bike...

Mine is still running strong.
